Swedish IT and medical-technology company Sectra has been selected by ProMedica Health System as its radiology information systems provider.

ProMedica is one of the largest integrated health systems in the US, spanning 27 counties throughout Ohio and Michigan.

Sectra will supply RIS products and direct service and support to ProMedica Health System which has been using Sectra PACS to handle radiology images for several years.

With this order it will now benefit from the tight RIS/PACS integration delivered by Sectra, which is especially powerful with customers who have demands to deliver radiology services across several institutions and/or communicate between several healthcare providers.

ProMedica Health System owns or operates nine hospitals, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation on Healthcare Organizations. Together these hospitals have more than 2900 physicians and 15,000 employees that meet the needs of more than 2.5 million patients annually.

"ProMedica Health System's decision to replace our legacy RIS with Sectra RIS was driven by integration and our need to work with a vendor who can respond to our demanding clinical and technology-driven environments," said Tom DellaFlora, vice president, Information Systems at ProMedica Health System.

John Goble, president of Sectra North America, said, "By extending our relationship with ProMedica Health Systems and adding Sectra RIS to the existing Sectra PACS clinical environment, we will allow ProMedica to increase their operational efficiency and continue delivering the exceptional service expected by their extensive referring clinician and patient populations."
