McKesson gears up for the next era
"If you think you know McKesson, now is time to take another look."
So said Jennifer Anderson, vice president of McKesson technology solutions marketing, pointing to a focus on interoperability for the technology giant at HIMSS15: "We've got some really interesting things we're showing this year."
McKesson's motto and mission statement for 2015 is "Focus Ahead for Better Health," according to Anderson – a recognition that we're entering a new era of smarter, more connected care.
"We know it's a rapidly-changing marketplace," she added. "We want to come right out front to our customers and say, 'We know lots of change is happening, and we recognize that, and are out there to help you.'"
McKesson, after all, with its technology and expertise at work in nearly every corner of healthcare, "has a unique 360 degree perspective," she said. "We have products and services throughout the care continuum, including providers, payers, physicians and pharmacies."
That means "we have a very unique view because we participate in all those segments across our company," she said. "We understand that the pace of change is different. We have solutions that can help customers with addressing their issues today. But because we have a longer view of the market, we can help them focus into the future as well."
At HIMSS15, McKesson will be focused on three areas emblematic of a new era of care coordination: "analytics, connectivity/interoperability and solutions and services that will help our customers achieve value-based care," Anderson said.
These include new product enhancements in areas of analytics and population health, including new accountable care services, she said. There are also new products from McKesson's connectivity business, RelayHealth (Booth #2402), "including a patient portal and updates on it financial solutions," as well as some new capabilities for its Paragon hospital information system.
A founding member of CommonWell Health Alliance (Booth #3960), McKesson will be participating in the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase. It will also be taking part in the HX360 Inaugural Event at HIMSS15, said Anderson.
One the show floor, the McKesson pavilion is designed to "maximize our engagement with our customers," she added. "Not only will we be showcasing new products but we'll have discussion areas, meeting rooms and panel sessions for folks to talk with our thought leaders across the organization."
