In its first report on real-time location services in five years, KLAS ranked Centrak the highest overall performance score among a field of RTLS offerings that includes Awarepoint, CenTrak, Cerner, Ekahau, GE Healthcare, Intelligent Insights, Sonitor, Stanley Healthcare, TeleTracking, Versus and Vizzia Technologies.

RTLS products are typically used for asset tracking and temperature monitoring. But providers today are looking to go beyond the basics and leverage RTLS tools to improve care quality, increase staff workflow efficiency and improve their bottom lines, according to the KLAS report titled “Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) 2016: Who Can Deliver Value Beyond the Basics.”

KLAS determined CenTrak to be the most scalable RTLS vendor based on the number of use-cases deployed per customer. CenTrak was one of a handful of RTLS vendors to have validated customer use in all seven of the use-cases studied: asset tracking, asset management, temperature monitoring, staff locating, hand hygiene compliance, patient flow/tracking and bed capacity management.

Versus customers reported broad adoption driven by strong integration, high usability and effective training, KLAS reported. Customers interviewed by KLAS said Versus excels at accuracy, with most achieving bed-level accuracy that helps increase operational efficiency by saving time, decreasing asset loss and managing patient flow, the report added.

Other vendors also received kudos for their reporting features.

“Among those KLAS interviewed, providers using Stanley Healthcare say canned reports are comprehensive, easy to customize, and provide actionable analytic insights that help reduce asset loss,” the report said. “Versus customers say the canned reports are becoming more comprehensive and are providing analytics that help increase organizational efficiency, though many would like additional training to fully optimize the reporting tools. All Vizzia Technologies customers using the reporting tools say the solution is strong for trending and automated alerts and that the vendor is open to customization.”
