AHIMA names 3M Health Information Systems exec as new board chair for 2017

AHIMA has elected a new slate of leaders to guide the organization.

Ann Chenoweth of 3M Health Information Systems takes the top spot as president and chair of the 2017 Board of Directors.

Chenoweth is senior director of industry relations at 3M Health Information Systems. She joined 3M in 2001 and has held several positions at the company, including Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, product line marketing manager for coding and reimbursement solutions and business manager for the medical necessity and compliance business.

Chenoweth served as a director on AHIMA’s board from 2012 to 2014 where she was chair of both the audit committee and finance committee and held the position of AHIMA treasurer. She has been active at the national and state level, recently completing her term as chair of AHIMA’s Grace Award Committee.

In her role, which began Jan. 1, Chenoweth will work with the board and CEO Lynne Thomas Gordon to provide strategic direction to AHIMA.

Members of AHIMA are health information management professionals whose work entails protecting the accuracy of patient health information as well as safeguarding and preserving privacy.

AHIMA also selected new board members, including Diann Smith, vice president of HIM at Texas Health Resources in Arlington, Texas, as chair-elect, and Chrisann Lemery, director of compliance and audit of Mercyhealth/MercyCare Insurance Company in Janesville, Wis., as Speaker of the House.
