CCHIT to cease EHR certifications

The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology will stop offering ONC testing and certification services. Instead, CCHIT will work toward increased IT interoperability by counseling providers and developers on certified EHR requirements, the group announced Jan. 29.

A certification program launched earlier this year at the IHE North American Connectathon, designed to promote security and interoperability among vendors, has certified its first batch of health IT products, officials from IHE and ICSA Labs announced Tuesday.
