Calling all healthcare provider organizations with a great story to tell about cloud computing: HIMSS and Healthcare IT News are accepting speaking proposals for the inaugural Cloud Computing Forum on Feb. 19 at the HIMSS Annual Conference in Orlando, Fla.

The deadline to submit a proposal is 5 p.m. Nov. 4.

For this event we want provider organizations to share their experiences with cloud computing, all with the goal of presenting best practices, lessons learned, and examining the state of cloud computing in healthcare.

This is one of the hottest topics in health IT, and despite persistent security concerns, more and more healthcare organizations are moving data and computing to the cloud. What do they know that non-cloud users don’t? What benefits does cloud computing offer their organizations? How have they addressed the security concerns?

The forum will address those questions head on.

What We Want
Case studies and real-life solutions are a priority for the 200+ audience of healthcare provider IT and security professionals. We are particularly interested in presentations that demonstrate the business case for moving to the cloud.

Presentations must demonstrate ROI: Success stories supported by data. Lessons learned also make great sessions. Keep if real!

Areas of interest
How does cloud computing allow healthcare organizations to, among other things, better manage limited resources, reduce costs, enhance workflow, improve patient care?

When it comes to the cloud, what’s fact and what’s fiction? What key factors figure into moving or not moving to the cloud? Is the cloud right for everyone?

Session topics will address:

  • Migrating data to the cloud
  • Choosing and managing cloud vendors
  • Privacy & Security
  • Business benefits – real and imagined
  • Big data in the cloud
  • Data ownership
  • Hybrid solutions that combine cloud and onsite capability
  • And more

We want proposals from payer and provider organizations that have moved all or some of their data and computing to the cloud and have valuable best practices and lessons learned to share. Proposals from vendors, except on behalf of payer or provider customers, are not accepted.
