Mergers value-based Kaufman Hall

The first half of 2016 has seen more healthcare organization M&A activity than the same timeframe in 2015 as providers are figuring out how to navigate rapid industry change and emerging payment models, Kaufman Hall said. 

"By adding Valence Health's services to Evolent, we expect to strengthen our operational capabilities and expertise, expanding our ability to support provider organizations in delivering higher quality, lower cost care," Evolent CEO Frank Williams.

Imprivata, the Lexington, Massachusetts-based developer of health IT security tools, has agreed to be acquired by an affiliate of Thoma Bravo, a San Francisco private equity firm. The deal is valued at approximately $544 million.

"We're analytical. We're high-tech. We can provide insights that others cannot," said UPMC's James Szilagy of the health system's new supply chain company.

Medsphere Systems CEO Irv Lichtenwald says his company's merger with ChartLogic will create "a comprehensive healthcare IT platform that extends from physician practices to acute care hospitals and inpatient behavioral health facilities."

The move, announced June 28, expands Medsphere’s enterprise healthcare IT products and services to include ChartLogic’s ambulatory EHR, practice management and medical billing technology.

"Together we will create significant value by bringing together complementary capabilities from both organizations to deliver innovative new solutions for customers," said Neil de Crescenzo, president and chief executive officer of Change Healthcare.

McKesson Corp. and analytics company Change Healthcare are joining forces to create a new health IT entity. McKessson will combine its information technology business with Nashville-based Change, formerly known as Emdeon.

Christopher A. Holden will lead the combined company as president and CEO, the same positions he holds at Amsurg.
