The Interoperability Showcase saw brisk business Monday at HIMSS13, drawing crowds for tours of 18 kiosks, each demonstrating unique interoperability use cases, while across the way speakers were scheduled every half hour to talk about interoperability.

Cleveland Clinic and IBM are partnering to increase the use of the Watson supercomputer in medical training. IBM researchers will work with Cleveland Clinic faculty and students to enhance Watson's Deep Question Answering technology for medicine.

OnBase 12, the latest version of Hyland Software's enterprise content management (ECM) solution, earned the federal government's Stage One Meaningful Use certification as an electronic health record (EHR) Module by passing the criteria for inpatient and ambulatory settings. This certification confirms that OnBase can securely maintain information and integrate with other systems to share critical information along the patient record continuum. More than 1,400 healthcare providers are currently using OnBase to create more complete patient records, which are crucial to helping providers learn more about their patients, make better decisions and reduce expenditures.

Doctors' adoption of health information technology doubled in two years, according to a new report, Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius released Wednesday. Sebelius also announced extension of the meaningful use qualification date to 2014.
