Survey analysis: Medical device rating sites helpful to providers

November 04, 2011 | Jamie Thompson, Web Editor

Independent rating agencies are available for many industries, but a similar resource for healthcare is not yet a ubiquitous feature. Healthcare IT News polled its readers to see if they would be interested in a website that offered ratings on medical devices and other healthcare products.

Three quarters of respondents said that they would consult a medical device rating site when making a purchasing decision.

An independent ratings site would provide physicians and other stakeholders with analytics, ratings and objective information to help in determining the value of medical devices and other healthcare products.

Only 25 percent said that such a website would not serve their needs.

The date range of the survey was October 3, 2011 to November 3, 2011.
