
Healthcare IT News recently asked its readers what their most pressing data-related concern is in regard to preparing for a disaster. Making sure IT systems and communications continue to run smoothly is top of mind for many.
More than half (57 percent) of respondents said their biggest concern in preparing for a disaster is setting up alternative operations for communications and other IT systems. Ensuring that these crucial systems can continue to operate smoothly through a disaster is paramount.

Thirty-two percent of respondents said safeguarding backups of digital files – such as images or medical records – is their top priority.
Only 11 percent put securing hardcopy records at the top of their lists.
The recent wild weather experienced by much of the nation no doubt made many hospitals think more seriously about adopting a solid disaster-preparedness plan.
