Survey analysis: The candidates on health IT

As evidenced by the recent Democratic and Republican National Conventions, health IT does not have a strong presence in the candidates’ platforms. Healthcare IT News asked its readers if they think President Obama and Mitt Romney should bring health IT into the discussion.

The majority of respondents said the candidates should publicly discuss their health IT plans, citing the importance of health IT in health reform.
From meaningful use to ICD-10, health IT is a key component of many healthcare policies and regulations that aim to improve care and lower costs.
Only 16 percent said health IT does not have a place in the larger political arena.
