ARLINGTON, VA – Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process services, today announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with Orion Health, a worldwide leader in clinical workflow and integration technology solutions for the healthcare sector. The partnership leverages Vangent's health IT thought leadership and expertise architecting national solutions for health information exchange, such as the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN), and Orion Health's unparalleled expertise in designing, implementing, and operating an integrated, secure HIE solution. Together, the two companies bring a track record of working collaboratively with healthcare innovators supporting successful HIE initiatives around the world.
The Vangent-Orion Health HIE solution enables states and healthcare providers to meet the NHIN guidelines of enabling standards-based, secure data exchange that ensures timely information is available at the point of care and improves the coordination of patient care among healthcare providers, while ensuring that a patient's health information is secure and confidential. The partnership brings a best-of-breed sustainable model for health information exchange that will allow healthcare providers to improve access to data and enhance the quality of healthcare in order to demonstrate 'meaningful use' of electronic health records to qualify for financial incentives.

HIEOS is an open source solution that integrates the Integrated Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Cross Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS.b) and the Cross Community Access (XCA) integration profiles to aid in the development of server infrastructures central to the growing national health data network.
"Vangent selected Orion Health for its high quality HIE solutions and breadth of market experience to complement Vangent's deep health IT expertise and work with the Office of the National Coordinator and NHIN CONNECT to expand our comprehensive offerings to the federal, state and commercial healthcare market," said Kerry Weems, Senior Vice President of Vangent's Health Solutions division.
