The Rothman Institute (RI), the region’s largest orthopaedic practice, based in Philadelphia, PA, is pleased to announce its recent decision to fulfill upcoming meaningful use requirements using a collaborative approach for electronic medical records (EMR). Teaming with SRS and URS (Universal Research Solutions), the RI will introduce a novel concept for its physicians to meet meaningful use requirements most efficiently by introducing the first Orthopaedic-specific, outcome-based EMR solution.

Universal Research Solutions, LLC (URS) currently provides web-based services that automate the collection of patient-reported clinical outcomes prior to appointment visits, along with tools for real-time scoring for immediate physician assessment and decision-support using its core system, OBERD. Physicians appreciate the innovative reporting, tracking, data-mining and visualization capabilities, which facilitate more responsible office visits and support endless research options.

Dr. Todd Albert, President of the Rothman Institute states “With URS’ innovative OBERD Outcomes-based EMR, patients will soon also have the advantage of experiencing features such as our Patient Feedback System, interactive and context-aware patient education material and our patient portal that will provide patients with a comprehensive view of clinical requests and appointment summaries throughout their entire journey to wellness at the Rothman Institute.” Dr. Albert goes on to say, “Our patients will truly recognize the value of meaningful use in orthopaedic care through an all-inclusive understanding of their specific condition and expectations made possible through the collaborative efforts of SRS and URS.”

SRS is the leader in productivity-enhancing EHR technology and services for high-performance physicians. According to Mike West, Rothman Institute CEO, “Our approach to Outcomes-based EMR through URS will allow us leverage the new SRS Meaningful Use certified EHR and will provide the best solution for our team while also being least disruptive to the operations of our high-volume organization. Leveraging the resources of SRS and URS and growing with our existing systems is always ideal.”
