HANNIBAL, MO – Hannibal Regional Healthcare System, which operates a not-for-profit community hospital in northeast Missouri, has selected the Sunrise Enterprise suite of solutions from Allscripts.

The Sunrise Enterprise suite will connect caregivers throughout the hospital and across local physician practices to provide state-of-the-art decision support and seamless information exchange for improved integration of patient care.

Hannibal Regional Hospital will transition from its existing inpatient clinical information system to Sunrise Enterprise, which includes the industry's most utilized Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) as well as integrated pharmacy, critical care and emergency department solutions, creating a comprehensive acute care Electronic Health Record.

After an extensive and highly competitive search, Hannibal Healthcare System selected Allscripts based on the company's track record of delivering high rates of physician CPOE adoption, as well as its ability to connect hospital caregivers with community physicians for coordinated transitions of care that ensure patient information is never lost during hand-offs.

"Our partnership with Allscripts will assist Hannibal Regional Healthcare System and our team of healthcare providers to raise the standard for offering exceptional healthcare services in northeast Missouri," stated John C. Grossmeier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hannibal Regional Hospital and Hannibal Regional Healthcare System. "This initiative is aligned with our organization's priorities to continuously enhance the care experience for both patients and families.  The Sunrise Enterprise suite will make assessment of patients and development of care plans more convenient for physicians and nurses, which will better allow our entire team to provide the highest quality care possible."

Allscripts and Hannibal Regional Healthcare System will provide direct integration between Sunrise Enterprise and the Allscripts Professional Electronic Health Record currently in use at Hannibal Regional Medical Group (HRMG), another subsidiary of Hannibal Regional Healthcare System.

The ambulatory EHR currently connects and automates workflow for HRMG's 55 physicians and providers across ten locations in Missouri and Illinois.
"Our physicians, nurses and other caregivers appreciate Sunrise's user-friendly approach to care, including its knowledge-based workflows that will increase awareness of the patient's status; with that information, providers will be able to make the best possible decisions for the care of each patient," said Jeff W. Evans, Hannibal Regional Healthcare System's Vice President -Information and Technology. "In addition, we expect that this partnership with Allscripts will enable us to qualify for the full incentive payments provided by the federal government for Electronic Health Record adoption."

As a 2011/12 ONC-ACTB certified Complete EHR, Sunrise Enterprise provides all of the capabilities needed for hospitals to demonstrate "meaningful use" of an Electronic Health Record and qualify for up to several million dollars in incentive payments under the federal HITECH Act.  To maximize its HITECH incentives, Hannibal Regional Healthcare System will implement Sunrise using the Allscripts Speed-to-Value accelerated implementation process.

Hannibal Regional will also take advantage of Allscripts Remote Hosting to provide 24/7 secure access to the Electronic Health Record while freeing up local space, resources and costs associated with maintaining computer servers and deploying applications on-site.

"Our goal is to deliver timely clinical insights that will help Hannibal Regional's physicians and nurses drive better health outcomes for their patients," said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. "We are proud to support Hannibal Regional Healthcare System's commitment to building a Connected Community of Health with their caregivers inside and outside of the hospital."

Sunrise Enterprise includes Helios by Allscripts, the company's unique open platform strategy.  Helios delivers vendor choice and flexibility by enabling clients and certified third-parties to natively integrate their applications with Allscripts enterprise solutions.  This lets Allscripts clients utilize best-of-breed systems without the additional cost and complexity of customized interfaces.  The result is improved clinician workflows, the ability to embrace and extend current technology investments, and more freedom to adopt the latest technology innovations by avoiding vendor delays.
