Healthcare professionals and member organizations from across the Capital Region and Northern New York will gather for the annual meeting of the Healthcare Information Xchange of New York (HIXNY) on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia, NY. InterSystems Corporation, a global leader in software for connected care and a strategic partner with HIXNY, is the exclusive sponsor for HIXNY’s annual meeting.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Gary A. Christensen, chief operating officer and chief information officer at Rhode Island Quality Institute, a center of collaborative innovation that drives healthcare transformation to improve the health delivery system and health outcomes. With nearly two decades of IT and operations leadership experience, Christensen was named one of InformationWeek Healthcare’s 25 CIOs Transforming Healthcare in May 2012.
“The success and growth of HIXNY and the health information exchange is the result of the ongoing collaboration among hospitals, health plans, physicians and other providers and HIXNY’s annual meeting is an opportunity to bring together our community’s leading healthcare professionals to celebrate these successes and look forward to future key initiatives,” said Mark McKinney, CEO of HIXNY. “Our annual meeting provides healthcare leaders in our community the opportunity to discuss and review the issues relevant to the growth and expansion of the region’s health information exchange.”
Since July 2010, InterSystems’ HealthShare has served as HIXNY’s strategic health information exchange and informatics platform. Paul Grabscheid, vice president of strategic planning, will also speak on behalf of InterSystems at the annual meeting.
“InterSystems is a vital partner in our efforts to enhance the interoperability of electronic health record data and software in our region,” McKinney continued. “We are excited to have the opportunity to grow our relationship with the company through a highly visible event where healthcare leaders can learn more about the essential role InterSystems has in the exchange of patient health data in the Capital Region and Northern New York.”
“HIXNY is a leader in connected care, not only in New York but in the nation, with a vibrant community of clinicians actively participating in the exchange. Two examples of HIXNY’s accomplishments include their work to enable medication reconciliation by serving as a community source of medication data, and their positive impact on workflow in the physician office by enabling an integrated, two-way flow of information between physicians, hospitals, and other providers,” said Grabscheid. “Our customers across the globe who are interested in gaining value from shared health records have shown great interest in HIXNY's past efforts and future focus. InterSystems is delighted to partner with an innovator in improving patient outcomes.
