SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – GlobalMed – the industry-leading telemedicine design, marketing and manufacturing company based in Scottsdale, Arizona – has signed an agreement with GE Healthcare (NYSE: GE) to sell the Vscan™, its pocket-sized, portable ultrasound device. The agreement provides domestic customers who buy or have purchased GlobalMed’s i8500 Series Mobile Telemedicine Carts with the option to add the Vscan to their telemedicine program.

The Vscan can be easily integrated into a telemedicine program, providing black and white anatomic and color-coded blood flow images in real time. The GE device is optimized for clinicians who want a quick inspection of the heart, abdominal organs and urinary bladder. The Vscan can also provide insights into areas of OB/GYN pleural fluid and motion detection and pediatrics. Images obtained by the Vscan, both JPEG and MPEG, can be emailed or added to a patient’s electronic medical record.

“When the Number 6 Company on the Fortune 500 list selects you to distribute its product in the telemedicine market, it is an opportunity you welcome,” said GlobalMed Managing Director Joel E. Barthelemy. “This arrangement with GE adds to our company’s growing list of relationships with multi-national enterprises that will help clinicians around the world deliver quality healthcare to patients, no matter where they are.”

The i8500 Cart Series is the most popular mobile telemedicine platform. The Veterans Administration has purchased nearly a thousand GlobalMed carts in the largest telemedicine rollout in history and has designed its program around GlobalMed solutions.
