GE Healthcare Introduces New Web-Based Diagnostic Viewer with Workflow Integration and Streaming Technology for Hospitals in Asia

February 27, 2009 | Industry News Release
Source: Healthcare IT News

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – GE Healthcare announced today in Asia the release of Centricity PACS Web Diagnostic (WebDX), a new Web-based diagnostic viewer, best of breed application that is tightly integrated to Centricity RIS/ PACS, which bring comprehensive detailed patient history to a single patient folder. The new Web Diagnostic solution uses the powerful engine from PACS IW, which has received the prestigious 2008 Best in KLAS -- PACS award.

Building on existing enterprise connectivity and comprehensive infrastructure of Centricity PACS, it provides an enterprise-wide archive, using state-of the art EMC storage technology, for access to any type of image in one complete platform. Centricity PACS seamlessly integrates with RIS and EMR solutions to reduce paper.

"Whether clinicians are sending exams to reading groups or reading exams outside the four walls of the hospital or imaging center, there is a common need for fast anytime, anywhere access to patient studies, history and results," said

Don Woodlock , Vice President and Global General Manager, GE Healthcare IT Imaging Solutions Group. "Centricity PACS Web Diagnostic enables the migration to a virtual environment, where information is delivered to the center of care through one desktop, one patient and one community."

With Centricity PACS Web diagnostic, radiologists and specialists can quickly access powerful clinical tool sets, such as advanced visualization and mammography, from virtually any location. Historically, these tools sets were only available on dedicated workstation, decreasing the radiologists' productivity and limiting the radiologists' mobility. Centricity PACS WebDx allows the radiologist to view images on any PC with regular monitors. For diagnosis purposes, GE recommends Barco's Coronis 6MP monitors due to their impressive image quality, accuracy offering two screens together with equal luminance, automatic calibration and broad usability.

"The Centricity PACS Web Diagnostic provides convenient access point for all patient images, regardless of department or specialty," said

Clarence Wu , VP and Asia Pacific GM, GE Healthcare IT. "One-click access via internet anytime anywhere takes clinicians to advanced imaging and visualization tools to deliver information at the point of care."

Also, during HIMSS Asia Pac, GE Healthcare IT will demonstrate our leadership healthcare IT technologies such as Centricity Enterprise global edition, Centricity RIS/PACS and Web Diagnostic @ Booth # 1109
