UnitedHealthcare inks another ACO deal
In the newest payer-provider ACO partnership, UnitedHealthcare has teamed up with an eight-hospital health system to launch another accountable care organization.
The Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Presbyterian Healthcare Services announced it will be partnering with the health insurance company to ultimately boost care coordination for some 12,300 New Mexico residents who are enrolled in UnitedHealthcare's employer-sponsored plans. This new ACO partnership marks one out of the 250 ACO programs UnitedHealthcare has solidified for the year.
The ACO partnership, officials say, will allow payment incentives for Presbyterian providers who achieve high patient satisfaction scores, cost savings, chronic disease management and reduced readmissions. The health system currently has 700 physicians and a 300,000-member health plan.
