Vendor Notebook: Zynx kicks off pilot program

Zynx Health, maker of evidence-based and experience-based clinical decision support solutions, announced the kick-off of a pilot program addressing a new focus on healthcare reform and preparing for accountable care organizations (ACOs). Five healthcare organizations will partner with Zynx Health to pilot a new service and software solution that analyzes their clinical decision support and provides recommended tactics for them to implement as they strive to become accountable for cost and quality outcomes as outlined in the recent Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The five pilot sites are: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California, Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Texas, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center in Washington, St. Joseph Health System in California and Texas, and WellStar Health System in Atlanta.

PatientKeeper, provider of physician information technology, announced that it has further expanded both the range of PatientKeeper applications and handheld devices that run its popular software used by nearly 24,000 physicians at more than 400 hospitals to streamline and improve their daily workflow. PatientKeeper Mobile Clinical Results, which provides physicians with “anytime, anywhere” access to their patients’ medical records, now supports the Google Android operating system, which runs on devices including Droid and Incredible. PatientKeeper Mobile Clinical Results already runs on BlackBerry, Apple iPhone and iPad. In addition, PatientKeeper Charge Capture, an application that enables physicians to accurately record their patient charges, now supports BlackBerry, Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Anvita Health has released the latest version of its Anvita Insight clinical analytics engine. Building upon the analytics framework embraced by payers, providers and electronic medical records, the new version 4.0 release includes key features that include the ability to conduct both real-time and batch analyses with one engine, as well as web-based end-user tools that enable full customization of analyses and reporting. These new features add to the list of Anvita Insight’s engine’s capabilities that accomplish myriad sophisticated analytics challenges that frequently take multiple analytics engines to achieve.
 
Omnicell, provider of system solutions to acute healthcare facilities, announced that Orange Regional Medical Center has chosen the firm as its exclusive vendor for automated medication solutions. After evaluating competitive product lines, Orange Regional chose Omnicell’s automated medication system to maximize inventory, enhance safety and increase medication security. Orange Regional will be opening a new 383 bed facility located in New York‘s Hudson Valley in 2011, equipped with Omnicell solutions, including its proprietary Anywhere RN product, which allows nurses to review and select medication orders from virtually any hospital workstation.

Landacorp has announced it has been selected by Health Net Federal Services to enhance its population health and care management services through implementation of the CareRadius suite. Health Net Federal Services is a part of the Government Contracts segment of Health Net, Inc. and provides quality managed health care programs for government agencies, including the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. Landacorp’s CareRadius software suite will help to improve health status and organizational efficiencies by enabling health and care collaboration between Health Net, beneficiaries and providers.

SRS, provider of productivity-enhancing technology and services for high-performance physician specialty practices, announced that Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI) has selected the SRS Hybrid EMR for its 242 providers. IBJI has 22 office locations providing comprehensive musculoskeletal care in the metropolitan Chicago area.
 
Viztek, the digital imaging solution provider, has installed its Opal-ORTHO PACS and U-Arm DR at Boyette Orthopedic and Sports Medicine in Greenville, NC. Boyette made the U-Arm decision based on the high image quality, ultra-fast access to images and the reputation of Viztek’s internal support team. The facility’s purchase included a weight-bearing stand for specialized orthopedic X-ray images and advanced PACS templating software for superior pre-operative planning.

Emerson Network Power has introduced Trellis, the first integrated, single-information-source data center infrastructure management (DCIM) platform to bridge the critical gap between a data center’s IT equipment and  facilities infrastructure. The Trellis dynamic infrastructure optimization platform is a family of hardware, software and services designed to manage the dynamic nature and requirements of the infrastructure holistically from a central “source of truth,” enabling data center managers to make smarter decisions on the interplay between efficiency, availability and capacity utilization.

Sy.Med, a provider of credentialing software in the healthcare industry, has added Alliance HealthCare Services and Texas Health Resources to their client list in September. The addition of Alliance and Texas Health makes September 2010 Brentwood, Tenn.-based Sy.Med’s largest revenue month of the year, and the second largest revenue month since the company’s inception in 1995.

Royal Philips Electronics has announced the release of SpeechExec 2.0 for BlackBerry. The software upgrade includes multiple new features that were designed to enhance mobile dictation by providing the ability to more easily transmit data, include more data in the recording files and make the smart phone a full-fledged dictation device.
 
Attunity, a provider of real-time data integration and and event capture software, has announced that Preferred Strategies, a provider of business intelligence software for enterprise resource planning systems, will integrate and distribute Attunity’s software as part of its BI Quick Launch for JD Edwards (JDE) product line to provide a solution that enables customers using JDE to leverage and benefit from real-time data warehousing for Business Intelligence.
 
Accelarad announced that University of Utah Health Care (UUHC) has selected its SeeMyRadiology.com cloud based medical image sharing platform for the communication of imaging exams with a full range of hospitals and medical practices across its large referral area encompassing five surrounding states.
 
DynaMed has partnered with McMaster University’s Health Information Research Unit to help physicians understand the scope of the medical research being published every day. Thanks to the agreement, the two best systems for keeping up with medical research have come together in an international partnership to identify practice-changing evidence for physicians and to include that knowledge directly into the DynaMed experience. Through the partnership, physicians from around the world will rate the most important research articles for specific relevance at the point of care and identify the practice-changing articles across all disciplines.

BlueCat Networks has announced that SHPS, a provider of health improvement and health benefits services, has replaced its home-grown DNS system with two Proteus IP Address Management (IPAM) solutions, two Adonis 1000 solutions and two Adonis 750 solutions to simplify network management and increase network reliability.  The two Proteus solutions provide centralized IPAM, the two Adonis 1000s are utilized for external DNS and the two Adonis 750s are utilized for internal DNS.
 
Voalté, a developer of point-of-care communications software on the Apple iPhone and other smartphone platforms, announced its strategic partnership with Meru Networks, the maker of virtualized and optimized 802.11n enterprise wireless networking. Coupled with Meru’s revolutionary Voice over Wireless LAN (VoWLAN) technology, Voalté provides a reliable, scalable communications solution that meets the heavy demands of VoIP in the clinical environment.
 
Greenway Medical Technologies formally introduced two new additions to its PrimeSUITE 2011 electronic health record (EHR) solution that dramatically expand the integration of speech understanding and digital imagery into physician workflows. The two new additions join recently announced Allergy Module and ONC-ATCB-certified Meaningful Use with Dashboard functionality as integrated components of the latest build of the company’s award-winning Ambulatory EHR, practice management and interoperability solution. The new version of PrimeSUITE 2011 will be available to new and existing Greenway customers this fall.

Summit Healthcare, maker of healthcare system integration and task automation technology, has partnered with Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, full-service acute physical rehabilitation hospital located in Jacksonville, Fla. Brooks Rehab runs MEDITECH as its primary healthcare information system and had been investigating ways to control integration costs and reduce manual efforts primarily around interface management. Operating currently in a point-to-point interface model, Brooks Rehab management saw a need to cut costs by maximizing its interface investments now and for future interoperability needs.  

Phytel has been selected by Saint Francis HealthCare Partners to help achieve NCQA recognition as a patient-centered medical home. Saint Francis will be rolling out Phytel’s unique care coordination and population health management solution, Proactive Patient Outreach, in November.

AZZLY, a provider of integrated, full-feature electronic health record, practice management and patient health record software, has announced that it will integrate mdEmail, the secure, HIPAA-compliant email service from MaxMD, and provide it to all AZZLY subscriber sites at no additional cost. The companies, which both provide software as a service (SaaS) utilizing cloud computing platforms, said that the mdEmail integration would be completed in time for AZZLY’s national launch later this year.
 
PEPID, a developer of clinical decision-support information and technology for doctors and nurses, announced the release of its beta application for the Apple iPad. PEPID is calling for iPad users to help test the latest version of its software, designed specifically to take full advantage of the large screen and user-friendly functionality of the iPad. GE Healthcare announced that GE Centricity Practice Solution version 9.5 is officially 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as a Complete EHR on October 13, 2010 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT). CCHIT made the designation in its capacity as an Office of the National Coordinator – Authorized Temporary Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) in accordance with the applicable eligible provider certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Globaltel Media announced that Scripps Ranch Dermatology & Cosmetic Center is utilizing the Globaltel Media SMS text platform to conduct personalized outreach about its services and to gain new patients. Forrester Research has recently shown that SMS is one of the most responsive marketing communications mediums, with five times better response rates than direct marketing. Scripps Ranch Dermatology successfully implemented Globaltel Media’s SMS messaging platform to increase the local visibility of
the practice, receiving an initial response rate of 69 percent, increasing to 88 percent when services were offered.

MedLink has announced the formation of the New York Health Information Network as a collaboration with Thrasys, a provider of next-generation health information technology.  The New York Health Information Network (NYHIN) will be the first of many regional health information networks to be deployed by MedLink and Thrasys under a Connected Healthcare initiative launched by the two companies earlier this year.

Philips Speech Processing, a manufacturer of mobile and stationary dictation systems, has announced that its third-generation SpeechMike (SpeechMike III) dictation microphone has been recognized by Nuance Communications for its compatibility and superior performance and quality with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 speech recognition software. Nuance Communications, a supplier of speech solutions, awarded the SpeechMike III with five dragons – the highest possible accolade for speech recognition compatibility.
 
Merge Healthcare has announced that Northeast Hospital Corporation (NHC), a Massachusetts-based integrated delivery system which includes hospitals, an outpatient care center, and affiliations with area rehabilitation and long term care facilities, will deploy a Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) from Merge, as well as the Merge ECM, a vendor neutral archive, to integrate all imaging throughout the system.

Ignis Systems, a provider of physician-centric solutions that integrate lab test services within a clinic's electronic medical record (EMR), announced that Health e Practice Solutions is implementing the company's EMR-Link solution for all lab connectivity. Both companies are Portland-based. Already operational at a number of clinics, Health e Practice Solutions uses EMR-Link to provide integrated lab orders management for all the practices it supports with its hosted EMR system.

Carestream Health has launched an optional upgrade for its CR-based mammography systems that includes advanced imaging processing software along with new premium screens that employ structured needle phosphor technology. These capabilities are available with new orders and as an upgrade to existing users of the company’s CR Mammography Feature, which equips users of the company’s Classic, Elite, CR 850, CR 950 and CR 975 systems to perform high-resolution mammograms in addition to general radiography exams.

Novation, a healthcare supply contracting company, announced that it has awarded agreements to Baxter Healthcare, Hospira Worldwide Inc., and CareFusion for Intravenous (I.V.) Systems. The agreements were effective October 1, 2010. The following products will be available to the members of VHA Inc., the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Provista: Large-Volume Infusion Pumps, PCA Pumps, Administration Sets and Solutions. Novation has also awarded an agreements to GE Healthcare (Milwaukee, WI ) for Cardiac Catheterization Monitoring and Electrophysiology Monitoring. The following products will be available to the members of VHA Inc., the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Provista: Cardiac Catheterization Monitoring and Electrophysiology Monitoring.
 
VitalHealth and Mayo Medical Laboratories have entered into a collaboration to offer VitalHealth's Electronic Health Record (EHR) product, including a solution for physician office connectivity, as part of Mayo Medical Laboratories’ outreach offering. VitalHealth has announced a targeted release of 1st Quarter 2011.   
 
Viztek has announced that Mitchell County Hospital, a critical access facility in Western Texas, has selected its U-Arm system to provide fast, efficient, versatile x-ray images for a full range of exams. According to Josh Stone (RTr), Radiology Director of the 25-bed hospital, prior to the upgrade, the radiology department had relied on a single workhorse x-ray suite for more than 30 years, with upgrades to computed radiography (CR) acquisition 12 years ago.

SRS has announced that Advanced Pain Management has selected the SRS Hybrid EMR for its high-volume practice. Advanced Pain Management is headquartered in Annapolis, MD, with additional office locations throughout central and southern Maryland, and the eastern shore of Maryland.
