RF Surgical announced a three year partnership with the Premier healthcare alliance. Under the agreement, more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals, and 78,000 additional healthcare sites in the alliance can select RF Surgical Detection Technology to prevent and detect retained surgical items from occurring in the operating room.
Perminova, which develops Web-based software for use in cardiology centers, has secured $7 million in venture capital. Officials say the company will use the funds to fuel growth as it develops Web-based cardiovascular procedure software and low-cost, cloud-computing solutions to major cardiovascular institutes and healthcare systems throughout the United States. Additionally, Perminova will use the investment for working capital, product development, sales and marketing.

MedAssets announced that Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, a 2,545-bed, not-for-profit health system located at Lenexa, Kan., has extended its use of MedAssets Spend and Clinical Resource Management solutions after realizing swift and significant financial results. To date, SCLHS has achieved $27 million in savings through use of MedAssets group purchasing organization (GPO), supply chain management services and procurement solutions, officials say – $7.5 million in the first seven months of 2011 alone.
