Vendor Notebook - NIH Clinical Center to use Quadramed AcuityPlus

QuadraMed, based in Reston, Va., has announced that the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Md., will use the company's AcuityPlus productivity, benchmarking and outcomes system to optimize its nursing resources.

One Healthcare Solution, Inc., a Georgetown, Texas-based developer of electronic medical records solutions, is partnering with MedBeyond, a Houston-based provider of healthcare technology hosting and medical billing/collection services, to provide a Web-based MediTalk ASP solution. The deal allows MedBeyond to market a Web-based version of its MediTalk solution suite, including MediTalk EMR and MediTalk Electronic Patient Checkin.

A.D.A.M., Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, has announced that CallMD, a Web site providing instant access to medical advice, diagnoses and treatments from a nationwide network of licensed nurses and physicians, has kicensed the A.D.A.M. Multimedia Encyclopedia and Symptom Navigator for its new Web site. CallMD has also joined the inaugural group of partners in A.D.A.M.'s Medzio Mobile Health Network.

Logical Images, Inc., of Rochester, N.Y., has launched version 6.08 of VisualDx, the company's flagship visual diagnostic decision support system, which includes Share This Page, a new capability that allows clinicians to immediately share information and images they are viewing.

Sentillion, headquartered in Andover, Mass., has announced that the Hendrick Health System, based in Abilene, Texas, has implemented the company's Tap & Go solution, which ties into an earlier integration of the company's Vergence clinical workstation solution to enable trauma center caregivers to use facility access cards to instantly sign onto any workstation.

Nortel
has entered into a "stalking horse" asset and share sale agreement with Avaya for its enterprise business solutions. The purchase price is set at $475 million.

CSC has signed an IT outsourcing services renewal contract with the Henry Ford Health System in Michigan. The five-year, three-month agreement has an estimated value of $115 million and includes clinical, departmental, revenue cycle and PeopleSoft ERP applications.

Luna Innovations, Inc., a Roanoke, Va.-based developer of sensing and instrumentation technology, has filed for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

Quality Systems, Inc., and Planet DDS, Inc., both headquartered in Irvine, Calif., have announced a partnership to deliver hosted, Web-based, software-as-a-service practice management and clinical software solutions to the dental industry.

Mi-Co, a Research Triangle Park, N.C.-based software developer, has announced a partnership with the Briggs Corporation to incorporate Briggs' OASIS forms with the Mi-Co technology platform to produce a comprehensive electronic solution for home-based patient care documentation.

Cavit Sciences, Inc., a Paterson, N.J.-based biotechnology company, plans to launch a new division or subsidiary company, to be called "My Healthy Lifestyle HRA," to provide secure access for Internet users to a health risk assessment (HRA) and a secure personal health record, complete with a family tree for gathering and storing important family health histories. The project will take advantage of GoogleHealth's online platform.

TextGuard, Inc., of New York has unveiled TextGuard For Blackberry and TextGuard For Windows Mobile, a software application for mobile devices that monitors and archives text conversations within an organization.

Ophthalmic Imaging Systems of Sacramento, Calif., has announced that the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology has certified OIS' EMR version 4.1 as a CCHIT Certified 08 Ambulatory EHR, and that it meets the CCHIT's criteria for office-based use.

Garnet Health and Insurance Services, a Hampton, N.H.-based provider of IT services to the healthcare industry, has expanded its operations to include physicians and Louisiana and Texas. The company currently provides services in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest. Garnet offers Provider Enrollment services which allows providers to become credentialed and able to service the health plan's members.

SXC Healthcare Solutions
of Lisle, Ill., has announced that its HealthCare Information Technology Group has been awarded a three-year contract to provide pharmacy benefit management solutions to the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. SXC will provide pharmacy claims adjudication, drug use review, pharmacy network management, clinical services to contain costs, maximum allowable cost list management and management reporting services.

CareStream Health, Inc., of Rochester, N.Y., has announced that the following healthcare facilities have placed orders for the company's portfolio of digital radiography (DR) and computed radiography (CR) imaging systems: Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark., Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger, Texas, Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, N.Y., Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., and the Springfield Clinic in Taylorville, Ill.

7 Medical Systems, LLC
, a Minneapolis-based provider of on-demand picture archiving and communications systems (PACS), teleradiology and EMR solutions, has announced that the Starkville Orthopedic Clinic in Mississippi has switched to the company's Ortho-on-Demand PACS.

Entra Health Systems of San Diego has unveiled its new Patient Messaging and Alerts system, built into the Web technology that supports the company's MyGlucoHealth glucometer. The new applications allow patients to automatically send notifications about their changing condition or reminders to tell them when to test.

CareTech Solutions
of Troy, Mich., has signed a five-year renewal agreement to continue providing The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati with IT outsourcing services.

Tangent, Inc., of Burlingame, Calif., has unveiled VITA LT, billed as an "all-in-one" PC for the medical market that is designed to replace the notebook for medical carts.

iWay Software
of New York has announced that Clarian Health of Indianapolis, is standardizing on iWay for business-to-business and application-to-application projects. For example, Clarian is using the iWay HIPAA solution to automate the process of requesting and receiving information on claims past a certain date.
