Vendor Notebook: McKesson upgrades Total Payment tool

McKesson has integrated neural analytics and reporting tools to its McKesson Total Payment solution via the InvestiClaim module. The module allows payers to avoid more wasteful and abusive claims up front, and makes fraud recovery efforts more efficient on the back end. The newly integrated InvestiClaim module now incorporates the Total Payment claims auditing rules engine and claims operational data store, allowing McKesson to smoothly and effectively combine both clinical rules and pre-pay, data-driven analytics on the same transaction platform to stop more wasteful and abusive claims pre-pay.

Hyland Software announced the latest version of its enterprise content management solution, OnBase 11.0. This advancement of this ECM software includes expanded core functionality of intelligent imaging and capture; enabled real-time, back-and-forth data sharing with other applications; and a platform that can be leveraged for building data-driven applications. “IT departments are trending to more consolidated, quick-moving environments, giving ECM software the opportunity to not only fill gaps, but to really be the foundation for IT innovation,” said Bill Filion, vice president of development for Hyland Software.

ADP AdvancedMD announced the availability of the AdvancedMD EHR 2011 Summer release, recently certified as a 2011/2012 Complete EHR by CCHIT. The release includes significant feature enhancements that streamline meaningful use compliance and simplify a patient’s ability to interact securely online with healthcare providers. Early-release users of the software have noted the cost and time savings afforded by the ADP AdvancedMD cloud platform, which delivers new meaningful use compliance at a glance, clinical reporting, an online patient portal and group messaging without requiring additional software upgrades or costs.

M*Modal announced that DrChrono.com, the publisher of dynamic point-of-care and practice management software, is offering M*Modal's unique Speech Understanding technology as part of Dr.Chrono's innovative iPad EHR app. This integration represents the first medical speech-to-text functionality for the Apple iPad and adds a significant enhancement to the DrChrono.com platform-the first native EHR application built for the iPad.DrChrono.com allows physicians to streamline their daily workflows by giving them the ability to access all health records on demand via the iPad, iPhone, any Web browser or Android device.

Health Care DataWorks announced that Children’s Medical Center Dallas (Children’s) has selected it to provide them with the business intelligence tools they need to view all of the data that runs throughout their organization. According to Children’s, HCD outranked the competition in experience with their underlying infrastructure and cost-effectiveness.  Children’s becomes the second leading pediatric healthcare organization to partner with Health Care DataWorks for their market-leading technology. Nationwide Children’s Hospital of Columbus has been working with HCD since 2008.

PivotHeath announced an agreement with the Reading Hospital to provide physician practice management services for affiliated physicians in The Reading Hospital Medical Group and Reading Professional Services. Under this three-year management contract, PivotHealth will place a highly experienced, senior-level practice management team on site to lead the day-to-day business operations of the physician enterprises. PivotHealth will also provide additional personnel to assist in specific operational initiatives.

Elsevier / CPM Resource Center announced that Providence Health & Services selected CPM as the vendor of choice for evidence-based interdisciplinary professional practice workflow support, including clinical documentation, care planning and clinical practice guidelines for nurses and interdisciplinary clinicians in order to improve overall patient care and patient experience. CPM's evidence-based content seamlessly interfaces with health information technology platforms.
 
Awarepoint Corporation announced that 46 hospitals and health systems, including 19 new client facilities, have contracted to use the company's RTLS and workflow software applications to improve quality of care, patient safety, operational efficiency, and employee productivity. In addition, a record number of client site activations took place during the second quarter. Reflecting strong and continued momentum for Awarepoint solutions, the new contracts and activations increased the number of Awarepoint clients to 153 hospitals and asset tags under management to 216,884.
 
QuantiaMD announced a partnership with the Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) to create an educational program that seeks to help primary care providers (PCPs) better diagnose and treat the most common anxiety disorders and provide guidance on when to refer to a specialist. The program, titled "Recognizing and Treating Anxiety Disorders," is accessible through smartphones, tablets and the Web, and can be found on QuantiaMD's Primary Mental Health Interest Group.

McKesson announced that Cardio Pulmonary Diagnostic in Newark, N.J., and Hudson County Cardiovascular Care in Jersey City, N.J. have selected its Practice Complete certified electronic health record (EHR) and practice management system to help boost their clinical and financial performance.
Built with cloud-computing technology, the integrated solution is uniquely designed to help providers improve billing and patient services, assist in accelerating payments and contribute to reductions in information technology costs and regulatory risk.

Resonance Technology
announced that Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, La. has selected its CinemaVision MRI-compatible 3D audio-video entertainmentsystem to bring a new level of comfort to patient scanning and to help distinguish the site in its local market. Successfully overcoming these issues, CinemaVision is a state-of-the-art 3D video and sound system that functions flawlessly within the MRI’s magnetic field.  It has no metal components and no impact on MRI image quality.  The device immerses patients in a calming virtual world, combating the fear or claustrophobia during long confining scans.

SRS announced that the Philadelphia Hand Center has selected the SRS Electronic Health Record (EHR) for its 40 specialty providers. The Philadelphia Hand Center was founded in 1967 and currently has 13 office locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Beacon Partners announced that they have expanded their Allscripts and McKesson service lines to include Allscripts Ambulatory, Allscripts Acute Care (formerly Eclipsys) and McKesson Paragon. Beacon Partners provides a variety of services related to all three service lines, including implementations, optimizations and upgrades, workflow analysis, interim and project management, application integration and level one support.

Viztek has announced the release of the ViZion Digital Radiology solution for the mobile imaging market. Viztek’s mobile offering includes a 14x17-inch cesium tethered panel and an integration kit for use with most portable/mobile x-ray units. Its cesium technology offers mobile users significantly enhanced image quality and speed compared to currently available mobile computed radiology (CR) solutions. ViZion DR provides faster delivery of exams than CR as well as a smaller footprint.

Wellsoft Corporation announced that Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center has selected Wellsoft's Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) to be implemented in EDs at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, a 160 bed hospital in McComb, MS and Lawrence County Hospital, a 25 bed hospital in Monticello, MS. These two hospitals manage care for a combined total of more than 41,000 ED patients each year.

McKesson announced that Kootenai Imaging has chosen McKesson Revenue Management Solutions (RMS) to position the practice for sustained growth, including preparing for ICD-10 coding changes and tracking Physician Quality Reporting Indicators. With 13 physicians and two imaging centers serving hospitals in northern Idaho, Kootenai Imaging will benefit from McKesson RMS’s advanced business intelligence services and compliance programs.

Carestream Health announced that Palmetto Primary Care of Charleston, S.C., has purchased its Vue RIS and PACS platforms to improve patient scheduling and speed the delivery of images and reports to physicians. This practice has 80 physicians and 21 locations in the greater Charleston area.
The practice conducts 40,000 imaging exams a year. Practice managers decided to replace outdated RIS and PACS functionality to streamline the imaging process and enable imaging data to be efficiently integrated into their EMR system.

MEDecision announced that its Alineo health management platform has been awarded accreditation for health utilization management from URAC, a national accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the healthcare industry. MEDecision also recently received URAC accreditation for its Disease Management, Vendor Case Management and Health Content Provider solutions.

Wellsoft Corporation announced that implementation planning is underway for Wellsoft Emergency Department Information Systems (EDIS) at two additional hospitals in the Los Angeles County-run health care system. Expanding on the 2009 implementation of Wellsoft EDIS at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) has selected Wellsoft's EDIS for its Harbor-UCLA and Olive View-UCLA Medical Centers. LAC+USC Medical Center provides care for more than 160,000 ED patient visits each year. Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Olive View-UCLA Medical Center annually manage care for 105,000 and 85,000 ED patients respectively.

Summit Healthcare announced it has entered into a new agreement with Beaufort Memorial Hospital to improve physician office integration by leveraging Summit Provider Exchange. Beaufort Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of Duke Medicine, is a full-service health care facility in Beaufort, South Carolina with 197 licensed beds and staffed by medical personnel consisting of over 150 board-certified or board-eligible physicians. Beaufort recently partnered with Summit Healthcare for its Summit Apex suite of integration and automation tools, and its integration and support services as the hospital migrated to MEDITECH 6.0. The hospital successfully went live in March 2011.

Anthelio announced a partnership with Nevada Rural Hospital Partners (NRHP), an alliance of 14 rural hospitals in Nevada, including 12 critical access hospitals. Anthelio’s partnership with NRHP is part of a broader focus on providing critical access hospitals across the country with end-to-end services that span IT, financial and clinical areas, and that help them to comply with increasing financial and operational challenges and government mandates.

Carestream Health announced that Brooke Radiology Associates of Richmond, B.C., converted its four clinics in the greater Vancouver area to digital imaging with its DRX-1 and CR systems. A private outpatient imaging group, Brooke Radiology was looking for technologies that would deliver high-quality images at an affordable cost. The practice converted from film to CR and DR systems as part of its adoption of an all-digital workflow. It installed PACS and then implemented digital imaging at its clinics.

ER Texting announced that it has signed Miami Children's Hospital as a client for its texting services.  The service will allow patients to send a text message to a dedicated number (4ER411) and instantly receive a message listing a live wait-time feed for the hospital's four urgent care centers, located in Palmetto Bay, West Kendall, Doral and Weston.

American Well announced that its Online Care Suite has received the federal government’s meaningful use stamp of approval by earning electronic health record (EHR) modular certification. The designation officially deems the software capable of enabling providers to qualify for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) when they deploy telehealth services. Tested and certified under the Drummond Group's Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) program, the software is 2011/2012 compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

EXTENSION announced that context-aware clinical alerts and notifications can now be securely delivered to Android operating devices via its server-based software solutions for healthcare. EXTENSION offers a comprehensive array of communication tools for enterprise healthcare systems and ambulatory groups. In order to serve such a broad group, EXTENSION has developed the EXTENSION Mobile app to work with an assortment of preferred end user devices including Cisco, Apple, and now the Android mobile technology platform.

Health Language, Inc. announced that Emmi Solutions has selected HLI to further enhance the usability of Emmi Solutions' interactive programs that inform and engage patients. HLI will work with Emmi Solutions to create an index that will make it easier for healthcare providers to identify and "prescribe" the appropriate Emmi programs to patients across the continuum of care. This initiative is part of Emmi's ongoing commitment to improve the patient experience by expediting access to important, time-critical information about a planned procedure or a chronic condition.

CGI Group announced CGI Health Insurance Exchange360, a suite of business, technology and consulting services designed to help states launch cost-effective and sustainable Health Insurance Exchanges in time to meet the 2014 deadline set by federal health reform legislation. CGI’s Health Insurance Exchange360 is a consumer-centric platform that helps states launch portals, manage eligibility/enrollment and seamlessly exchange data with commercial carriers as well as state and federal agencies. CGI’s highly flexible technology integrates easily into existing state systems, minimizing risk and leveraging state investments.

SRS announced that its EHR has received certification as a complete EHR by the Drummond Group, an Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ATCB) of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The SRS EHR is now certified for use by physicians to demonstrate meaningful use and to qualify for the EHR incentives offered under ARRA.

Wolters Kluwer Health
announced that Tulsa Spine and Specialty Hospital has selected its ProVation MD software for pain management documentation and coding. ProVation MD replaces dictation and transcription and allows physicians to efficiently document procedures at the point of care.
