Vendor Notebook - Hospital signs on for more bedside education from Patient Portal

Patient Portal Technologies, Inc., based in Baldwinsville, N.Y., has been awarded a contract extension from Crozer-Chester Medical Center, part of the Crozer-Keystone Health System, to provide its Total Satisfaction Service Program, including bedside education and entertainment systems, patient bedside communication systems and related patient support services.

The QuadraMed Corporation of Reston, Va., has announced that University Medical Center at Princeton, a unit of the New Jersey-based Princeton HealthCare System, will offer an ambulatory health record to its affiliated physician practices. The EHR will be supplied by Austin, Texas-based e-MDs in collaboration with QuadraMed.

Practice Fusion, based in San Francisco, has launched a free e-prescribing system for physicians.

Siemens Healthcare, based in Malvern, Pa., has announced that longtime customer United Health Services, a multi-facility healthcare system based in Binghamton, N.Y., has signed a contract for the company’s Soarian healthcare information system.

The Ricoh Americas Corporation, a West Caldwell, N.J.-based provider of digital office equipment, will host a series of Ricoh Healthcare InfoBrief seminars in seven cities across the country for healthcare professionals seeking to streamline paper-intensive medical processes.

Motion Computing has announced that Sumner County (Tenn.) Emergency Medical Services has selected the Motion F5 Rugged Tablet PC to enhance billing and patient data management processes.

The Eclipsys Corporation of Atlanta has announced that Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in The Bronx, N.Y., has expanded its use of integrated clinical components of the Eclipsys Sunrise Enterprise suite of solutions, including activating Sunrise Emergency Care and Sunrise Ambulatory Care. In addition, the company has announced that Athens Regional Medical Center, a 375-bed referral center in Athens, Ga., will deploy the company’s PeakPractice EMR/PM solution. Finally, the company has announced that New York Downtown Hospital will launch a major It initiative involving multiple integrated components of the Sunrise Enterprise suite of solutions.

TeleHealth Services, a Raleigh, N.C.-based provider of healthcare-grade televisions and on-demand interactive patient education solutions, has announced that Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center in Fredericksburg, Va., will implement the company’s bedside patient education system. The hospital, part of the HCA network, is set to open this spring.

Ambir Technology, Inc., an Elmhurst, Ill.-based manufacturer and marketer of digital capture products, has launched a redesigned TravelScan Pro document and ID card scanner, to replace the old TravelScan Pro 600 model.

Design Clinicals, based in Seattle, has announced that Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, will implement the company’s MedsTracker software solution to expand electronic medication reconciliation to a full patient-safety platform.

eGistics has announced that Consultants in Radiology, P.A., a 14-member radiology practice in Texas, has deployed the company’s Digital Medical Practice solution to improve operating efficiency, accelerate document research and streamline secondary billing.

SEDLine, Inc., an Irvine, Calif.-based developer of neuromonitoring technologies to improve the care of patients under anesthesia or sedation, has acquired the brain function monitoring business of Hospira, Inc.

Skylight Healthcare Systems of San Diego has formalized a system-wide contractual agreement to deploy Skylight ACCESS at three additional Cancer Treatment Centers of America hospitals in Chicago, Philadelphia and Tulsa, Okla. The agreement follows the successful deployment of Skylight ACCESS at Western Regional Medical Center in Phoenix.

Biovista, Inc., based in Charlottesville, Va., has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has licensed the company’s Adverse Event Analysis (AEA) technology platform to help analyze, identify and better understand the way certain drugs can cause harmful side effects.

Aspect, a Chelmsford, Mass.-based developer of applied communications (UC) and collaboration technology, has acquired Quilogy, a St. Charles, Mo.-based IT services firm.

The Premier healthcare alliance
, based in Charlotte, N.C., has announced that three hospitals will leverage its SafetySurveillor automated surveillance solution and the Duke Infection Control Outreach Network (DICON) to enhance their infection control programs. The hospitals are Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, Mass.; Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, La.; and Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

The CDC Software Corporation
, an Atlanta-based provider of enterprise software applications and services, has announced plans to acquire up to a 51 percent stake in Hon Kong-based Vitova, Ltd., a leading provider of enterprise content management services in China.

IQMax, based in Charlotte, N.C., has signed an agreement with 3M Health Information Systems of St. Paul, Minn., to make its enterprise mobile healthcare technology available with 3N’s dictation and transcription solutions. 3M will deliver its solutions to hospitals, physician practices and outpatient facilities on IQMax’s IQPlatform using Blackberry or Windows Mobile devices.
