Vendor Notebook - HHS taps Acumen for cloud-based CRM

Acumen Solutions, the Vienna, VA-based business and technology consulting firm, has been selected by the Department of Health and Human Services to build a cloud-based customer relations management (CRM) solution in support of the department's electronic healthcare record (EHR) program, which has been expanded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

ServiceSource, the San Francisco maker of service revenue solutions for the high-tech, healthcare and life sciences industries, has announced a partnership with GE Healthcare, a division of General Electric Company, to support the management and growth for GE Healthcare's Life Science division. GE Healthcare will leverage ServiceSource’s technology platform, on-demand applications and service sales specialists to capture additional revenue opportunities and build deeper relationships across its biotech, pharmaceutical and academic customer base.

Allscripts, of Chicago, has announced that Danbury Office of Physician Services (DOPS), a multi-specialty physicians group based in Danbury, Conn., will expand its deployment of the Allscripts Electronic Health Record (EHR) across its network from its current base of 51 physicians to all of its 238 employed physicians. DOPS is affiliated with Danbury Hospital, a 371-bed regional medical center and university teaching hospital associated with Yale University School of Medicine, the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Columbia University Medical Center, and the University of Vermont.

Preferred Health Technology (PHT), of Carrollton, Texas, has selected Companion Data Services (CDS), of Columbia, SC, to provide data center hosting and related services for PHT’s A-Claim health care and payments-transaction gateway and processing system.Under a three-year contract with additional one-year renewal options, CDS will provide hosting services for A-Claim on its state-of-the-art IBM z10 series mainframes, using a virtual server configuration in a zLinux environment.

Nuance Communications
, of Sunnyvale, CA, has announced that its Dragon Medical speech recognition solution has been recognized by Fallon Clinic as a core component to its electronic health record (EHR) success. Fallon Clinic, an ambulatory, multi-specialty medical group with more than 20 sites across central Massachusetts, has found that Dragon Medical, when used as part of an EHR deployment, can contribute to significantly higher levels of physician satisfaction, improved availability of information, enhanced note quality and reduced costs associated with medical transcription.

Carestream Health, of Rochester, NY, has announced that leading healthcare providers across the United States – including Delta Radiology in Lodi, Calif., Claremore Regional Hospital in Claremore, Okla., and Diagnostic Outpatient Imaging in El Paso, Texas – have ordered its RIS/PACS solutions to boost productivity and convenience for radiologists, clinicians and radiology staff. These platforms also enable facilities to streamline all aspects of the radiology workflow from exam order and patient scheduling to the delivery of radiology reports, and ultimately help deliver enhanced patient care.

Watertown, Mass.-based athenahealth, a provider of Web-based business services to physician practices, has been named to Fast Company Magazine’s “Fast 50” list of the world’s most innovative companies. One of only three healthcare companies to be named on the list, athenahealth was recognized for helping to modernize the U.S. healthcare system by bringing cloud computing to the doctor’s office.

The Enterprise Mobility Solutions business of Schaumburg, Ill.-based Motorola has announced that that Agilysys, of Solon, Ohio, a leading provider of innovative IT solutions and Motorola Premiere Solution Partner, will deploy Motorola’s HIPAA-compliant end-to-end wireless LAN (WLAN) and AirDefense solutions at Miami Jewish Health Systems to support current and future mobility initiatives.

SRS, of Montvale, NJ, the maker of high-performance hybrid EMRs, has announced that Marietta Dermatology Associates of Marietta, Ga. has selected the SRS hybrid EMR for their 13 providers.
AMICAS, a Boston-based maker of image and information management solutions, has announced that it has signed 55 contracts for its AMICAS Financials solution for radiology billing.
