Funded with an initial $90 million investment, the new business unit will offer health information exchange solutions, personal health records, an eHealth clinical portal for clinicians and patient identification and matching technology. In addition, the company has announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has selected GE Healthcare to provide surveillance data from its Medical Quality Improvement Consortium database for the monitoring of H1N1 and seasonal flu activity throughout the United States.

Allscripts-Misys Healthcare of Chicago has announced that Norwalk, Conn.-based Soundview Medical Associates has chosen to deploy the Allscripts electronic health record (EHR) and practice management (PM) solutions for its 22 physicians.
