Elsevier has partnered with Medical Education Technologies (METI), a manufacturer of medical simulation and health care learning tools. The companies will collaborate on a health care education product that combines Elsevier's nursing education content with METI's human patient simulators. Elsevier and METI will combine METI's human patient simulators integrated with Müse, a medical trainer's simulator operating software, with Elsevier's current suite of nursing simulation products, including Sim Chart, a new simulated EHR and charting system, and Simulation Learning System (SLS), an online toolkit that helps instructors and facilitators effectively standardize and incorporate medium to high fidelity simulation into their nursing curriculum.
HP Enterprise Services and Healthways announced the signing of a 10-year, $380 million applications and technology services outsourcing agreement to support growth and expand value to Healthways’ customers. With this agreement, HP will provide Applications Development and Applications Management services to further accelerate the transformational development of the well-being improvement company’s applications and technology infrastructure. As a result, Healthways’ mission-critical application, EMBRACE, will be able to support an increasing volume of customers and increasing market demand for multiparty integration.
Karos Health announced an agreement with Hospital Diagnostic Imaging Repository Services (HDIRS) to deploy Rialto Connect, which enables seamless sharing of diagnostic information between providers. HDIRS is an independent corporation responsible for operating a shared diagnostic imaging repository (DIR) that enables storage and retrieval of diagnostic images and corresponding reports. It is the second largest DIR in Canada, servicing 37 healthcare facilities with a combined annual volume of 3 million imaging exams.
TriageLogic announced it has processed 500,000 patient calls through its expanding network of customers using the company’s Nurse Triage On Call services. TriageLogic’s line of products falls into two areas – a services unit that offers nurse support through multiple call centers and a software unit that develops nurse triage systems both for after-hours and daytime use. TriageLogic’s array of products and services provide physicians, hospitals and clinics a way to standardize patient care management across multiple offices, including offering “after-hours” nurse triage support.
Awarepoint Corporation announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has awarded the company Patent No. 7,941,096 for a wireless interaction-based tracking system that helps hospitals enhance their patient safety, improve quality of care, and drive better financial outcomes. The patented technology can: detect interactions between people and objects (tag-to-tag communication); determine the location of the interaction; and send that information to a platform to drive compliance and quality reporting.

Cinterion and TZ Medical announced the launch of Aera-CT, a lightweight and cost effective mHealth heart arrhythmia monitoring device. Equipped with the Cinterion MC75i module, the Aera-CT is expected to be commercially available in North America later in, 2011 followed by rolling launches throughout the world. The Cinterion-enabled Aera-CT improves the ability to rapidly detect heart arrhythmias during normal day-to-day activities and over long periods of time. Proofpoint announced that Adventist Health, a leading West Coast healthcare provider with 17 hospitals and more than 130 clinics and outpatient facilities in California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington, has deployed Proofpoint Enterprise Privacy and Proofpoint Enterprise Protection cloud-based solutions to 18,000 employee mailboxes. Adventist Health is now able to protect its employees against spam and malware, ensure patient privacy and confidentiality, and comply with stringent HIPAA, HITECH, ePHI and other government regulations.
Summit Healthcare announced that it will be showcasing its MEDITECH 6.0 migration best practices at the 2011 International MUSE Conference next week. In addition, AbbaDox Rad features standard PACS tools, such as window leveling, zoom, pan and annotations and retains no confidential patient information on the device itself.
