Vendor Notebook: Cerner, Nuance partner for voice-enabled mobile EHRs

Cerner and Nuance Communications announced that Cerner will embed Nuance’s cloud-based medical voice recognition into its full portfolio of mobile EHR solutions. In addition, Cerner and Nuance announced the integration of Nuance’s radiology reporting suite, PowerScribe 360, with Cerner’s RadNet radiology information system (RIS).

Athenahealth announced that it is hoping to triple the size of its Watertown, Mass. headquarters, to around 1 million square feet. The Boston Business Journal reports that athenahealth, which currently employs 2,200 people, is expanding its workforce and needs extra space to support strategies such as incubating new health IT startups in-house.

Caradigm announced that Continuum Health Partners has implemented its IT solutions to help improve care coordination across healthcare facilities and keep patients well and at home. Continuum Health Partners  five distinguished voluntary teaching hospitals including Beth Israel Medical Center, Roosevelt Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Health Care DataWorks announced it is entering into a multi-year agreement with OhioHealth to provide its KnowledgeEdge Enterprise Data Warehouse to broaden the health system’s access to analytics in a manner that will improve quality while reducing costs.

TriageLogic announced its partnership with accountable care organizations (ACOs) in reducing health care costs while providing high quality care. Eighty-nine new ACOs were announced by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on July 9, resulting in a total of 154 providers who will be participating in the Medicare Shared Savings initiative in 2012.

Voalte announced the company completed $6 million in new Preferred B funding from strategic partners led by a healthcare information technology leader and a major healthcare system. Per terms of the agreement, names of the strategic partners were not disclosed.
CareCloud announced that Miami Children’s Hospital, one of the nation’s leading providers of pediatric healthcare, will deploy CareCloud’s cloud-based revenue cycle management service offering, Concierge, to its owned physician network, composed of approximately 200 pediatricians and pediatric sub-specialists.

Health Language, Inc. announced that Healthland, which develops health IT solutions for rural hospitals, has selected its Language Engine (LE) and provider-friendly terminology (PFT) to enhance documentation and physician workflow in critical access and community hospitals.

Harris Corporation announced that it has been awarded a three-year, $7.9 million contract from Scottsdale Health Partners (SHP), a newly created  joint venture between Scottsdale Healthcare and Scottsdale Physician Organization, to implement its Clinical Integration Solution.

McKesson announced that Optimal Radiology, a provider of professional radiology solutions to hospitals, plans to consolidate its billing operations with McKesson Revenue Management Solutions (RMS). Working with McKesson, Optimal expects to achieve more consistent and comprehensive business reporting that can be used to improve collections and drive better financial outcomes.

Elsevier announced the launch of a nationwide “ClinicalKey Experience Tour” to promote the importance of its clinical reference tool that provides better answers to physicians’ clinical questions and thus improves patient care.

Alego Health announced it has added 450 new project jobs. Alego's application based on the Apple iPad platform, which is designed to effectively manage EHR implementations.

SRS announced that Michigan Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) has selected the SRS EHR to replace its legacy EHR. The group’s 17 providers care for patients at two locations in Southfield and West Bloomfield, Michigan.
