athenahealth has launched a new online dashboard to provide clear visibility into the performance of physicians on the athenahealth network against meaningful use criteria.The regularly-updated dashboard offers insight into how the thousands of providers currently participating in athenahealth’s reimbursement program are progressing toward meeting Medicare meaningful use measures. Through its cloud-based EHR, with providers sharing a single instance of software, athenahealth has a real-time view into how its providers are performing, enabling the company to identify client pain points and focus its array of client services on addressing these challenges for all clients on the network.

Nuance Communications and MedMaster Mobile announced that the MedMaster Mobility iPad App is now powered by Nuance Healthcare medical speech recognition, enabling its more than 15,000 clinician users to document and navigate on-the-go via voice. MedMaster Mobility, an EHR-agnostic mobile interface, allows clinicians to access eight core workflow applications on-the-go: My Schedule, My Patients, My Workups, Prescriptions, Billing, SOAP, My Contacts and My Resources. By leveraging Nuance Healthcare medical speech recognition from the cloud, clinicians can interact with and control the app through speech-driven clinical documentation and voice navigation commands.

eClinicalWorks announced that Oklahoma’s Comanche County Memorial Hospital has chosen the eClinicalWorks comprehensive electronic health records (EHR) solution for its employed physicians across 28 locations that are multi-specialty. Designed to improve quality of care with access to real-time information and clinical decision support, the technology will also be offered to non-affiliated community practices.

Viztek announced the launch of its high-performance FIT-DR (Fixed Integrated with Tethered Digital Radiography) solution, a dual-detector X-ray system that combines superior image quality, ultra-fast throughput and an affordable price point comparable to a single-detector wireless DR unit. With its pair of high-quality cesium detectors, the Viztek FIT-DR is versatile enough to accommodate a full repertoire of X-ray exams without the time-consuming repositioning required by single-detector wireless systems.

McKesson announced that 30 physician practices are using the latest release of its Horizon Practice Plus practice management system to meet new electronic data interchange requirements mandated by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI 5010). Released in March of this year, the enhanced system features advanced functionality and flexibility to help practices increase efficiency, streamline the revenue cycle and prepare for ANSI 5010 and other upcoming regulations.

InterSystems announced that currentcare, Rhode Island’s statewide health information exchange (HIE) and a service of the Rhode Island Quality Institute (RIQI), has initiated project rollout. Patient data from East Side Clinical Laboratory is now flowing into currentcare, which uses InterSystems HealthShare strategic informatics platform technology for HIE.

Medspira announced that it has received a $2,250,000 investment from a private venture group to build on the success of its flagship Breath Hold respiratory motion monitoring system and bring additional clinically-inspired medical technologies to market. The Breath Hold system enables physicians to compensate for the impact of breathing on lesion localization in the lungs and upper abdomen. Allowing patients to consistently reproduce the same breath-hold reference point by providing them with instant feedback on their breathing cycle, it has applications in the delivery of radiation therapy, image-guided biopsies and other imaging-driven procedures. The device is based on technology developed by and licensed from Mayo Clinic.

Carestream Health announced it is taking orders for an upgraded version of its CARESTREAM Image Suite Software. This affordable CR-based image acquisition and mini-PACS solution performs web-based patient scheduling, fully featured image review and reporting as well as offering flexible archiving options. The newest version of Image Suite Software contains specialized tools and functionality to address the needs of urgent care centers, imaging clinics and a broad range of physicians and specialists including orthopedists, podiatrists and chiropractors.

CPU Medical Management Systems announced that it has been approved for meeting the new Medicare 5010 standards in the states of Michigan and Missouri. Additionally CPU has been approved with two clearinghouses and is currently in testing for 39 other carriers and clearinghouses.

NaviNet announced that it has signed more than 1,000 providers to the comprehensive NaviNet PM and NaviNet EMR in the first three months since general availability. NaviNet PM enables provider practices to manage patient information, while NaviNet EMR delivers physician practices electronic health record functionality and helps them to achieve meaningful use.

GE Healthcare announced that it has received commitments from more than 100 customers globally for its innovative Alcyone technology, a nuclear cardiology platform combining cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) detectors, focused pin-hole collimation, stationary data acquisition and 3D reconstruction, designed to help facilitate workflow efficiency and dose management while maintaining image quality.
 
McKesson announced that Radiology Associates, a full-service diagnostic and interventional radiology practice in Baton Rouge, La., has replaced its long-time billing vendor with McKesson Revenue Management Solutions (RMS). With 14 physicians serving one of the largest private medical centers in Louisiana as well as an imaging center, the practice needed a partner with the expertise and resources to help optimize reimbursements and improve financial performance.

Edge Solutions announced expanded healthcare industry partnerships with Novarad, Sajix and Sapheneia Software Solutions. Edge Solutions has identified critical IT needs for community hospitals and provides a suite of best in class IT products and solutions, including electronic health records (EHR) management, lower radiation dose protocols, and picture archiving and communications systems for small to mid-sized hospitals and other healthcare providers.

Panopto announced today the launch of Panopto Focus 4.0 and Panopto Unison, end-to-end video and multimedia capture and management web service solutions. Current customers, who include 3 million faculty and students at more than 400 schools worldwide, will see their cloud-based Panopto solutions upgraded. Both Panopto Focus 4.0 and Panopto Unison provide a state-of-the-art video and multimedia search, editing and viewing experience from any desktop or mobile device.

CipherLab announced the availability of KALIPSO Mobile Application Generator for its mobile computers supported by Windows operating systems. This third-party application generator software provides an easy and intuitive platform for users to create and manage applications with drag and drop, either online or offline.
