ADDISON, TX – To integrate their new Emergency Department with the latest in healthcare information technology, officials at Scott & White Hospital at University Medical Campus in Round Rock, Texas, didn’t have to look too far.

Hospital officials ventured just down the road to Addison to contract with MEDHOST for its Emergency Department Information System (EDIS).

Scott & White officials say they chose MEDHOST because of the system’s intuitive design, ease of use and customization and interfacing capabilities. The new hospital is fully integrated with Scott & White’s main facility in Temple.

“Our EDIS decision came down to how robust the physician documentation was, ease of use, and how well it would interface with our Siemens hospital information system,” said Ross Tobleman, MD, emergency department medical director at Scott & White/UMC. “MEDHOST is so intuitive, simple and easy to understand, that no questions need to be asked – it simply guides you.”

Using MEDHOST’s touch-screen technology, clinicians at Scott & White/UMC are experiencing quick and easy documentation, which improves accuracy and reduces the chance of errors. Because they use extensive order sets, MEDHOST’s one-touch bedside order entry removes unnecessary steps and accelerates the care process.

MEDHOST’s Administrative ToolKit provides the hospital with a means to modify processes in real-time, allowing the hospital to respond quickly to clinical, financial, regulatory and technical changes.

“More hospitals are deploying MEDHOST because we can seamlessly integrate our system with every leading HIS, which makes the system important not only to the ED, but to the entire hospital,” said Craig Herrod, president and CEO of MEDHOST.
