Returning exhibitors find virtual exhibit hall expands potential customer reach

June 06, 2011 | Patty Enrado, Special Projects Editor

Veteran HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo attendees will find returning industry-leading healthcare IT companies in the Exhibit Hall showcasing their latest products and services.

In a virtual environment, HP will offer an array of world-class industry solutions across the continuum of care, including care management solutions, medical informatics, eligibility services, pharmacy management, immunization registry and e-health solutions. "HP brings its experience in project and change management to optimize the value clients receive, and we work collaboratively with other vendors to ensure our clients can leverage the best capabilities and products available," said Joan Hankin, program marketing manager for HP's America's Health and Life Sciences Industry.

HP will focus on its large storage portfolio, including HP Storage solutions for EMR and PACS featuring HP 3PAR Utility Storage and HP X9000 Network Storage Systems. Visitors can access white papers, analyst reports, performance reports, customer success stories and tools. HP's booth will also provide an overview of its converged medical infrastructure and ways to re-engineer a healthcare organization's finances with HP Financing to help with purchasing products and solutions for an organization's IT infrastructure.

As a returning exhibitor, HP has been able to respond to attendee questions and demonstrate how its solutions and technologies support a "secure, innovative and state-of-the art technology healthcare environment, Hankin said. "Please join us at the HP booth and let's discuss your healthcare IT needs," she said.

Amcom Software will be showcasing its latest solutions, including the highly popular Amcom Mobile Connect smartphone application for critical messaging, according to eMarketing Manager Jenae Cahanes. Attendees can learn how to send prioritized, role-based notifications from their nurse call, patient monitoring, security and many other systems to staff mobile communication devices. They can also have a real-time chat with Amcom representatives to learn how the company's broad product offering can simplify communications – from streamlining critical code procedures to contact center optimization to on-call scheduling. In addition, Amcom will be hosting daily drawings for $100 Amazon gift cards.

"We've exhibited at HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo several times in the past few years," Cahanes said. "This event has continued to be successful for us in terms of networking and lead generation in the healthcare space."

CDW Healthcare will be showcasing a variety of its solutions in the areas of security, point of care, infrastructure optimization, unified communication and ambulatory/EHR solutions. "To support these solution areas, we'll have support documents including white papers, videos and case studies to highlight how the healthcare market is utilizing technology to solve their everyday challenges and streamline their workflows," said Event Coordinator Racheal DeMoss.

In addition to having account managers staffing the booth during the entire show, CDW Healthcare will also have dedicated hours where its solution architects and specialists will be on hand to answer questions and offer guidance around its solutions.

"We found value in the show last year due the amount of traffic that came through the booth and the quality of the people and discussions that were being had," DeMoss said. "The set-up of the booth is easy and the flow of the event, even easier."

SAP invites attendees to see its industry-leading suite of business intelligence tools that help providers measure and monitor critical indicators such as clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and operational and financial performance. SAP representatives will be at the booth to help attendees learn about its newest analytical solution staff productivity management for healthcare. Co-developed with The Johns Hopkins Hospital, the solution provides greater insight into staffing such as worked hours per patient day, wages, workload statistics and FTEs at the departmental or cost-center level.

Attendees will be able to preview SAP's next-generation offerings, including the SAP Collaborative E-Care Management and the SAP Mobile EMR. Visitors can also download a variety of healthcare provider case studies and white papers, and register to win an Apple iPad.

"We have found that [the HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo] is an excellent opportunity to connect with hundreds of our customers who may not be able to travel to physical events due to time or budget constraints," said John Papandrea, senior vice president for SAP Global Health Sciences. "Additionally attendees get one-on-one interaction with SAP experts who can guide them through our technology and answer any questions they might have."

Returning exhibitor PC Connection likes the ability to offer a great variety of educational materials – including webinars and podcasts – more than it could possibly present at a physical event, according to the PC Connection healthcare team. "We have found the HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo attendees to be extremely engaged and sincerely committed to leveraging IT to address the challenges in their field," the healthcare team said. "We understand their needs, and we welcome the opportunity to show how we can help." Attendees can download what they need at their convenience. The online format also lowers barriers, which raises attendee comfort level to ask questions.

PC Connection will feature products, services, and solutions from HP, Cisco, Enovate, Microsoft, APC, Ergotron, and Lenovo. Attendees visiting the PC Connection booth will be able to check out the latest health IT solutions; view technology webinars on virtual desktop and smart card technology at the point of care, unified communications for caregiver collaboration, among other topics; listen to various podcasts; download literature and register for a chance to win an HP Slate.

Attendees can visit other exhibits, including Citrix. For more information on Citrix, please visit their booth in the Exhibit Hall.
