BLOOD CENTERS IMPLEMENT SOFTWARE TRACKING TOOL

Memorial Blood Centers, of St. Paul, Minn., has implemented a quality systems management software tool to improve quality compliance and system efficiency. The nonprofit community blood center collects 2,400 units of blood per week, and will use Holmdel, N.J.-based Sparta Systems’ TrackWise product to track and trend events in areas such as donor collections, hospital services and laboratory services. The initial TrackWise implementation will focus on streamlining the error management process.

DOCS SELECT VRN TO ENHANCE TELERADIOLOGY SERVICES

Palmaris Imaging of Chesterfield, Mich., has selected Neurostar Solutions’ Virtual Radiology Network for advanced digital image management for the practice’s hospital-based imaging and teleradiology services that span eight states. The 19-radiologist group wants to send images over the Internet for reading by remote teleradiologists while supporting its physicians based in hospitals in Missouri and Virginia. Neurostar technology will integrate with hospitals’ PACS software to enable image accessibility wherever needed.

FREE E-PRESCRIBING AVAILABLE TO DOCS USING NAVIMEDIX

Electronic health record vendor Allscripts, of Chicago, and Cambridge, Mass.-based NaviMedix, Inc., a vendor specializing in provider communications, recently announced an agreement to provide the eRx NOW ePrescribing software from Allscripts to NaviMedix’s nationwide network of more than 190,000 physician customers. eRx NOW will be offered at no cost to users of NaviNet, NaviMedix’s free Web-based provider communications product.

RHODE ISLAND DOCS CHOOSE RCM/PM SOFTWARE

Rhode Island’s largest medical practice, University Medicine Foundation, Inc., has chosen LighthouseMD’s CareTracker product as its new revenue cycle management and practice management software. The nonprofit organization will implement CareTracker throughout its 19 physician practice sites, which serve more than 60,000 patients in Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts. Integration of CareTracker into the UMF organization began in January 2007, and the Web-based system is now fully available to UMF’s 140 physicians and 15 Nurse practitioners.
