President-elect Barack Obama and CEO of the newly merged Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions Glen Tullman were voted the two leaders to watch for healthcare IT advances. Obama and Tullman were neck-and-neck on this score with few others mentioned.
A few readers mentioned the new Health and Human Services secretary. Former Sen. Tom Daschle had not yet been picked by Obama at the time of the survey.
Some respondents provided a reason for their choice. Most just named the name and left it at that.
Though Tullman has not confirmed it, it has been reported that he has advised Obama on his healthcare IT plan.
“Obama of course. Any reorganization of American healthcare will start there,” said Mark Cress of Allscripts-Misys.
“Glen Tullman, he is a true leader and a visionary,” said one reader.
“Certainly President-elect Obama will have a significant impact on the direction of healthcare reform, said one reader. “Bottom line is things will continue to get done community by community."
