Ohio provider rolls out IT at multiple locations

November 23, 2009 | Kyle Hardy, Community Editor

WESTLAKE, OH – North Shore Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Centers, based in Westlake and Garfield Heights, Ohio, has deployed several new IT solutions, including an ambulatory care-based electronic health record.

The ambulatory surgery center network is implementing ProVation MD physician software developed my Philadelphia-based Wolters Kluwer Health for procedure documentation and coding, as well as an electronic health record.

“The software combines thorough documentation with ease of use and the ability to capture codes to facilitate billing,” said Mousab Tabbaa, MD, North Shore's president.

North Shore Gastroenterology, established in 1990 as a partnership between Peter Greenwalt and Tabbaa, provides treatment for multiple digestive disorders and offers new techniques, including Barrett’s mucosa ablation, endoscopic ultrasound and SpyGlass with electrohydrolic lithotripsy. Officials said the new EHR is expected to help with documentation and imaging, as well as  providing physicians at the point of care with past patient health data.

The EHR, officials said, offers access to a single, patient-centric documentation system that eliminates printing and chart storage costs and streamlines workflow. It also includes dictation and transcription features and is expected to produce complete, coding-ready and image-enhanced procedure notes that result in greater efficiency, increased profitability and clinician satisfaction.

“North Shore Gastroenterology & Endoscopy Centers are leaders in providing high-quality GI care,” said Arvind Subramanian, President and CEO of Wolters Kluwer Health's clinical solutions division.
