VINELAND, NJ – South Jersey Healthcare plans to deploy a new health information exchange system to improve healthcare information technology services, connectivity and interoperability.

MobileMD’s Health Information Exchange and Enterprise Access technology is designed to enable healthcare organizations to share health data on a secure online platform. Enterprise Access allows a physician practice or hospital to send and receive different types of patient health information, including labs, transcribed reports and orders.

“The ability to provide secure, electronic interoperability with our physician community and share critical patient health information in real time will not only reduce costs but, more importantly, will improve the physician-patient relationship and patient outcomes. In short, our partnership with MobileMD will help improve patient care,” said Thomas Pacek, CIO of South Jersey Healthcare.

By using the HIE, the 262-bed facility will also provide medical partners with the option of ordering care services in outpatient departments.

SJH expects to connect with practices that have not yet implemented an EMR with access to MobileMD’s EMR-Light, which was created to provide access from other facilities with different systems.

“In addition,” said Pacek, “MobileMD’s Enterprise Access product serves a critical need for our affiliated physician community – particularly those that have yet to implement an EMR. With MobileMD’s Enterprise Access, affiliated physicians will have the ability to receive results and reports generated within the walls of our various facilities and will be able to securely transmit PHI, such as medical records and orders, to the health system, thereby improving the coordination of patient care.”
