Netherlands provider replaces legacy systems with new patient management

April 21, 2010 | Kyle Hardy, Community Editor

HARDERWIJK, THE NETHERLANDS – St. Jansdal Hospital in the Netherlands has extended its contract with Sydney-based iSOFT’s Lorenzo patient management solution for a further three years, in a deal worth €4.5 million.

Hospital officials said iSOFT will implement additional Lorenzo patient management and clinical decision support functionality at the 340-bed public hospital. Officials also said legacy systems at the facility will have continued support while the new systems are being implemeted.

“The renewal is in line with St Jansdal’s ambitions to further enhance patient management and the medical decision process with information technology and to advance patient safety and patient satisfaction,” said Peter Herrmann, managing director of iSOFT Central Europe.

St. Jansdal is a key partner in the development of innovative iSOFT solutions such as an iPhone ‘app’ that enables nurses to register general patient data, including pulse and temperature readings, directly into the electronic patient record, said iSOFT officials

“St Jansdal is a pioneer in the use of healthcare IT," said Herrmann. "We enjoy an excellent partner relationship and share similar philosophies, which provide a foundation for continuous patient-centred innovation.”

In February, iSOFT installed Lorenzo 3.5 across some surgical departments at St Jansdal with the new release providing tools for patient management, results reporting, requesting and advanced clinical data capture.

Rollout of a GP Viewer portal was also completed, allowing 67 GPs in the community to view patient records and radiology and pathology reports at the hospital.
