SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Web-based patient administration systems have been installed at more than 30 hospitals throughout Australia and New Zealand. The hospitals hope to improve patient flow with the help of the IT systems from Australian-owned vendor iSoft.
WebPAS is a tool for managing patient flow across the so-called continuum of care, from admission to discharge. The system integrates with departmental IT such as emergency, OR, outpatient, private practice, referral, mental health, waiting list, and electronic medical records systems. The system is equipped with a comprehensive billing engine and is integrated with health funds for eligibility, electronic claiming and remittance.
The system is live at six Independent Private Hospitals of Australia sites (Essendon, Holyrod, Longueville, Sydney, Mountain District and Malvern), and at 10 Healthscope hospitals (Northpark Private, Lady Davidson, Brisbane Waters, Newcastle Private, Victoria Clinic, Bellbird Private, Tweeds Day Surgery, Parkwynd Private, Griffiths Private, and North Eastern Private). Four Catholic Health hospitals in Australia and 12 Southern Cross hospitals in New Zealand have also installed the system.
Murdoch St. John of God hospital, a 357-bed facility in Perth, was among the largest hospitals to implement WebPAS.
Denis Tebbutt, managing director of iSOFT's Australian and New Zealand business, said, "This is a level of delivery unequalled in this market and shows how we are focused on enabling our clients to deliver better healthcare outcomes through the utilisation of modern technology."
