HANCOCK, MI – Portage Health, a multi-site provider serving Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, has launched a new HIT solution that includes an electronic medical record.
Portage, based in Hancock, Mich., is implementiong an ambulatory EMR and practcie management solution from Westborogh, Mass.-based eClinicalWorks.
“Portage Health searched for an electronic health records system for its employed providers that could greatly improve care in the community,” said John Steenport, the network's director of information technology. “Our providers ... preferred eClinicalWorks because of the user-friendly nature of the system.”
Portage Health officials hope to improve efficiency at the network's multiple locations and reduce care costs for patients through the use of the new technology.
In addition to the combined EMR and PM solution, Portage Health has deployed an enterprise business optimizer, also developed by eClinicalWorks. By using meta-data, company officials said, the eBO looks to give the practice more flexibility through the creation of customized reports and by performing clinical and financial analysis.
Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks, said the company is providing Portage Health with solutions that are comprehensive and flexible and designed for good performance in multi-specialty practices.
