EMERYVILLE, CA – MedeAnalytics, a provider of healthcare performance management solutions such as on-demand analytics, announced Wednesday the launch of its new accountable care organization solution, alongside an ACO resource center for provider and payer organizations.
The solution features essential technology components common to both Medicare and commercial ACOs, including data aggregation, clinical data exchange, performance management and role-based security.
An ACO is a group of providers held responsible for the quality and cost of healthcare for a population. Under the accountable care concept, payers identify primary care patients of a physician-hospital network that is willing to take responsibility for the full continuum of care. A spending target is set for these patients, and if the ACO meets quality benchmarks and reduces per-beneficiary spending below the target, the providers receive a share of the savings.
The new solution addresses the needs of Medicare ACOs as described in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, Section 3022 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, as well as commercial ACOs involving health plans.
"MedeAnalytics has the proven technology and experience aggregating data from healthcare's disparate sources, thereby bringing together the necessary data that providers need to effectively and efficiently manage care," said Terry Fouts, MD, MedeAnalytics' chief medical officer. "Our data aggregation experience covers all the relevant data sets, including inpatient claims, pharmacy, laboratory, ancillary, outpatient, demographic and membership data."
Effective population health management requires that all participants have access to the relevant information in a timely, accurate and prescriptive manner, Fouts added, referring to a "data democracy" – ensuring access to the relevant information for caregivers. "This level of transparency and timeliness brings accountability to the system no matter what it is called."
MedeAnalytics' web-based platform provides the necessary HIPAA compliance and role-based security along with ready access to information.
In addition, the firm has launched a comprehensive ACO resource center at its website that includes information such as an ACO technology framework and a development timeline, as well as reference materials such as white papers and other online resources.
