SYDNEY – Australia-based healthcare IT company, iSOFT, has entered into the life sciences sector with a research tool that retrieves clinical data from electronic health records.

iSOFT recently struck a co-marketing agreement with the U.S.-based CliniWorks, whose AccelFind solution extracts medical data including free text notes, discharge summaries and patient records. iSOFT will market the technology to hospitals and life sciences companies worldwide as part of its Life Sciences Solution, “powered by CliniWorks.”

"This is a tremendous opportunity to accelerate clinical research in a so far unprecedented way, and tap into new areas of treatment options and value propositions that have the potential to change the way we perform medicine and use healthcare IT today,” said iSOFT’s director for life sciences, Joerg Kraenzlein, MD.

Cytolon, the Berlin-based enabling technology company for personalized medicine, will use the new tool with its Web-based platform, CordMatch, which integrates product search, billing, logistics and follow-up for the matching of stem cell products. With the Life Sciences Solution, CordMatch will be able to utilize EHRs to improve quality of care.

The tool integrates with all standard hospital databases, facilitating collaboration for efficient clinical research, tracking outcomes and data management.
