Barco and McKesson have announced a partnership to provide medical display systems for NIMIS, Ireland’s national PACS program. The installation covers more than 1,100 medical displays for 35 hospitals and will serve more than 4.2 million people. Barco will provide all diagnostic, mammography and clinical review displays while McKesson’s picture-archiving software will enable electronic image-sharing between the hospitals.

The Health Service Executive (HSE), Ireland’s publicly funded healthcare service, initiated NIMIS to install PACS/RIS systems in all acute hospitals within the HSE.

"This national program will further enhance patient care, providing over 3,000 specialists and consultants with instant access to images and reports, with complete diagnostic confidence regardless of the patient's location. Once completed, NIMIS will be one of the most technically advanced nationally integrated medical imaging systems in the world,” said Scott Wilson, sales manager UK & Ireland for Barco's Healthcare division.

Barco’s Coronis Fusion 6MP DL is part of the medical display portfolio being installed. Offering high-quality images and a 30-inch diagnostic screen, it will serve as the radiologists’ standard diagnostic workstation. The HSE will also install the MediCal QAWeb software by Barco to centrally manage calibration and quality assurance of all displays included in the project.
