DALLAS – New Jersey Physicians, a physician advocacy organization formed in 2007, has named Dallas-based iMedica the preferred electronic health record vendor for the state's physicians.

NJ Physicians evaluated the company's Transition and PRM 2009 solutions and certified both. They will be included in a list of certified products.

“NJ Physicians evaluated numerous systems and certified iMedica as one of the very best in its class,” said NJP Executive Director Jay Hedden. “Many physicians have questions and concerns about electronic health records.  The goal of NJ Physicians is to help them select the best system, obtain the best price and start enjoying the great benefits of EHR technology.”

NJ Physicians has close to 1,600 members and works with healthcare organizations and individual physicians to discover new ways of accessing quality, affordable healthcare.

The PRM 2009 solution, certified by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information technology, is a single-database integrated EHR and practice management system designed to address the business and clinical needs of medical practices. As a scaled-down alternative, iMedica's Transition EHR offers e-prescribing, document management, lab results and automated PQRI capabilities.

“New Jersey’s doctors are working towards being primed and ready for the promised federal stimulus dollars for adoption of EHRs,” said Michael Nissenbam, iMedica's CEO. “iMedica is pleased to be a helpful partner for physicians who are in the process of or about to begin the process of choosing the technology solution that is best for their practice.”

scottb says: Preferred, really?

What the article fails to detail is that the New Jersey Physicians organization is getting a piece of the action or should I dare say kickback. I'm sure the provider members of the NJ Physicians Group will be happy to hear about this. I know I wasn't happy when my PA did a similar deal.
