CHARLOTTE, NC – Premier Purchasing Partners, one of the largest healthcare purchasing networks in the country, has signed an agreement with Wellsoft Corp. to become the exclusive supplier of emergency department information systems to Premier's more than 1,550 member hospitals.

The potential financial value of the deal was not disclosed.

"We are very enthusiastic about the opportunity to partner with Premier to help its provider members enhance clinical and operational performance in the emergency department," said John Santmann MD, president of Wellsoft.

Wellsoft, based in Somerset, N.J., is recognized for providing the most complete functionality and most configurable product in the marketplace, Santmann said. Its emergency department information system was designed by ED clinicians, he noted.

In the recently released 2007 Top 20 Best in KLAS Report, Wellsoft was ranked No.1 for the 11th time in the Emergency Department Information Systems category.

Wellsoft's technology includes patient tracking, nursing and physician documentation, electronic orders and results, charge capture and coding.
