NEW GLOUCESTER, ME – Healthcare financial managers are getting a business newspaper of record for their industry.
MedTech Publishing Company showed off a preview issue of Healthcare Finance News at the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s annual meeting last month in San Diego.
The monthly newspaper will officially launch in October.
It arrives at a critical time, according to the newspaper’s leadership.
The healthcare industry is in the midst of a “sea change,” said Editor Fred Bazzoli, currently senior editor at Healthcare IT News, HFN’s sister publication. Bazzoli cited the financial pressure on hospitals by payers and the government that is forcing CFOs to seek healthcare-specific financial information.
With President Bush calling for price transparency and HHS revamping Medicaid, facilities will need current news to manage the industry-wide change, Bazzoli said.
“Our goal is to report the news, ask hard questions and put the issues into context,” he said.
“Fundamentally, there is a real need in the industry to track the efforts being made to deliver affordable care, make ends meet and improve patient outcomes without increasing costs,” said Neil Rouda, publisher of MedTech Publishing Company.
“Healthcare Finance News will provide short, focused reports on efforts by healthcare facilities to manage and control costs,” said Rouda.
With the associated October launch of the newsletter Healthcare Finance NewsWeek and www.HealthcareFinanceNews.com, Healthcare Finance News will provide an integrated news platform solely devoted to healthcare finance. According to Rouda, the monthly newspaper will have a qualified circulation of 28,500.
