WAUKESHA, WI – Healthcare providers can have all the clinical information they need about a patient, and it won’t mean a thing if that data isn’t organized and displayed properly.

With that in mind, GE Healthcare on Monday rolled out the new CARESCAPE Monitor B850, which is designed to link directly with hospital networks, electronic medical records, diagnostic images, lab results and third-party devices to offer real-time patient monitoring data and support clinical decision-making.

“The CARESCAPE Monitor B850 reflects GE's commitment to a new approach to patient monitoring – one that transforms streams of once uncoordinated patient data into meaningful, easily accessible clinical intelligence,” said David Ataide, vice president and general manager of monitoring solutions and diagnostic cardiology for GE Healthcare, in a press release. “Empowering doctors and nurses with quality patient information supports fast, easy clinical decision-making, which may lead to improved patient outcomes, the foundation of GE’s Clinical Information Logistics vision. Because each hospital care area treats a unique group of patients with distinct clinical needs, the CARESCAPE Monitor B850 now enables standardization on a single monitoring platform that can be customized to meet specific care area demands.”

The proliferation of bedside devices and information management systems has made monitors and dashboards all the more important, as providers need quick and easy access to a patient’s vital statistics. GE officials say the CARESCAPE monitor provides a standardized platform on which all customized clinical information can be compiled and viewed.

Among the uses tied into the new monitor are ECG services, which can be delivered ‘cart-less’ to the bedside and integrated with the MUSE ECG repository. In addition, the monitor allows for bedside viewing of EMRs, x-rays, labs and other diagnostic reports and anesthesia management through integration with the GE Navigator Applications Suite.

Built with Intel processing technology, the CARESCAPE Monitor B850 is compatible with existing Marquette and Datex-Ohmeda products.
