CAMBRIDGE, MA – ETIAM, a Cambridge, Mass.-based provider of medical imaging connectivity solutions, announced that a healthcare cooperative group in Brittany and a group of six hospitals in the Charente-Maritime department of France will use the company’s Secure Medical Networking (SMN) technology.
SMN enables providers to safely transfer medical images between institutions. “Being able to transfer medical images and clinical data quickly and securely to specialists for expert consultation is foremost,” said one of the project managers. “This will enable our receiving trauma center to review and understand patients’ conditions prior to transfer to establish a better treatment plan for the patient.”
Five other French regions are currently using ETIAM”s SMN technology to connect 120 hospitals. Another six hospitals in the Charente-Maritime department also selected the SMN solution.
This area of France experiences a significant rise in population during the summer months, putting a strain on the modest healthcare system. The SMN allows them to address the need for greater healthcare resources, benefitting emergency, radiology and oncology departments within several institutions.
