Dossia sees growing interest in PHR

January 10, 2012 | Mike Miliard, Managing Editor
From the January 2012 print issue

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Dossia, the open-source personal health record service developed by a group of Fortune 500 employers, recently announced that the Dossia Health Management System has been deployed at six of its founding member companies – leading to sharp uptick in patient engagement.

Dossia is a nonprofit organization consisting of several large U.S. companies seeking to help their employees to make more informed decisions about their healthcare. The Dossia Founders group includes AT&T, Applied Materials, BP America, Cardinal Health, Intel, NantWorks, Pitney Bowes, sanofi-aventis, Vanguard Health Systems and Walmart.

Since deploying the Dossia Health Manager beginning in mid-September, Dossia has seen a significant increase in engagement among its user population, officials say. With the availability of new and innovative capabilities, there has been a 30 percent increase in unique monthly users, along with a 42 percent increase in the sharing of records with family members, providers and other healthcare professionals. Additionally, daily login activity has increased by more than 20 percent.

Included in the Dossia Health Management System is the Dossia Health Marketplace, where users are able to personalize their Dossia accounts. In the Health Marketplace, users can find health applications and integrated devices that target the user’s individual health needs. With a user’s consent, Dossia’s intelligent platform is also able to suggest tools and content based on the information that enters a user’s record.
