AARHUS, DENMARK – CSC, a Falls Church, Va.-based provider of technology-enabled solutions, has received EuroRec certification for its Clinical Suite.

EuroRec is the European not-for-profit certification organization dedicated to promoting high-quality Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems throughout Europe.

“EuroRec is driving standardization in EHR systems and CSC believes that this is a crucial step forward for the industry,” said Freddy Lykke, managing director of CSC’s European Healthcare Solution Centre. “We feel that common standards, which allow the performance of each vendor’s software to be measured and compared, are useful means through which vendors like CSC can demonstrate that EHR systems perform as described.”

EuroRec provides certification for EHR suites that pass through a series of strict performance criteria, CSC officials said. The certification guidelines provide vendors performance targets and ensures that purchasing health authorities have independent, third-party certification to verify the quality of systems they are considering installing.

“EuroRec’s ongoing work to certify the performance of systems and drive the standardization agenda in healthcare systems will enable customers to realize a better blend of solutions from a wide range of vendors," Lykke said. "The days where one company can develop an entire healthcare solution are over, as our industry is now centered upon vendors collaborating and combining strengths. It is crucial that we have a body driving standardization to ensure that each company contributing to the overall solution can be confident it is working with partners who are providing software to the same high standards."

CSC Healthcare EMEA officials said the organization will be actively engaged in the EuroRec program and will continue to support its aims and objectives, which includes re-submission of the CSC Clinical Suite to be measured against the next set of performance criteria when its current certification becomes due for renewal, at the end of next year.
