NEW ORLEANS – Cisco and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society have partnered to create Cisco’s Connected Health Community, a forum dedicated to sharing best practices for using information delivered via medical-grade networks.
The forum is designed for HIMSS 20,000 individual and 300 corporate members, including caregivers, end-users, CIOs and other IT professionals.
“It reinforces our message around the connected community, and it’s something our customers have been asking for,” said Rebecca Whitehead Munn, Cisco’s director of Healthcare Services.
The Community for Connected Health, part of the HIMSS Users Group Alliance Program, will include in-depth education events, Webinars, networking opportunities with Cisco healthcare and technology experts, news alerts, white papers and case studies, along with the occasional blog.
It “offers HIMSS members an opportunity to be part of this new community that provides a fresh perspective on information technology and new insight on Cisco’s healthcare solutions,” HIMSS President/CEO H. Stephen Lieber said in a press release.
The Community for Connected Health will be under the strategic direction and guidance of the HIMSS board but with its own volunteer leadership. That leadership will provide specific direction on tactics, and the implementation will be coordinated by HIMSS staff.
