SUN VALLEY, CA – Local physicians in Southern California will be part of a remote monitoring project of patients with diabetes.
The physicians will be a part of XTend Medical Corporation's Medical Disease Management Program, which will initially target 500 diabetes patients.
Using the Eocene transmitter, patients will be able to take their glucose readings and transmit the results to participating physicians via telephone. The readings, sent as encrypted patient data, will go to a central server where the physician can review them.
Once the data has been reviewed by the physician, any adjustments in medication, compliance with testing and/or any necessary follow-up visits can be immediately sent back to the patient.
"This remote diabetic monitoring program is nothing short of groundbreaking for the company and the medical community. Our system is designed for physicians to be able to closely monitor diabetic patients from their office while the patients maintain their regular daily lives in their own homes. The patient's data can be securely monitored and any adjustments can be made instantaneously through direct communication with the patient from a remote location," said Paul D. Lisenby, CEO of XTend Medical.
Executives at XTend Medical say that the key factor in managing diabetes is remote monitoring at all times. This technology they say reduces complications such as diabetic shock and/or hospitalization.
"XTend Medical is now poised to implement this system nationwide to any healthcare company looking to remotely monitor their diabetic patients. Our ability to implement the system very rapidly is now in place," continued Lisenby.
XTend Medical Corporation markets and sells healthcare and wellness products to hospitals, managed care companies, nursing homes, physician groups and individual patients. Through their alliances, XTend offers pharmacy services, diabetic supplies, and telemedicine products.
