Anchor exhibitors demo the value of healthcare IT

March 27, 2009 | Patty Enrado, Special Projects Editor

CHICAGO – Healthcare IT has always been about improving clinical outcomes and driving workflow efficiencies, both of which create cost savings. With the economic downturn in full swing and the $19.2 billion in healthcare IT investment from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act coming down the pipe, expect that message to resound throughout the Exhibit Hall at the HIMSS09, April 3-8.

Leading the charge will be the seven HIMSS09 anchor exhibitors.
The overarching theme spanning the anchor exhibitors' booth presentations is healthcare IT enabling quality healthcare and cost reductions, especially in these difficult times.
Anchor exhibitor newcomer CDW Healthcare will highlight its underlying technology infrastructure and solutions.

Emphasizing real-world solutions in today's world, Eclipsys will demonstrate how its products connect physicians and integrate performance management improvement processes, just to name a few of their capabilities.

Epic Systems will showcase its Care Everywhere, a national network that connects Epic customers to one another and other facilities using electronic health records, or EHRs.
GE Healthcare will unveil the latest version of its Centricity EMR, which features enhancements to the physician experience and decision support, among other things.
McKesson's booth will be filled with its customers, who will share their best practices and stories of success in improving clinical outcomes and connecting providers through McKesson solutions.

As the industry moves toward electronic health records, Philips is positioning itself as having solutions that complement EHRs. It will emphasize its capability to interpret vast amounts of data and presenting actionable information to clinicians at the point of care.
Siemens will demonstrate its solutions that help healthcare organizations integrate, automate and coordinate enterprise activities.
